"Don't you know who I am? Who am I? How did I get here?"
There are times when ID could be a bit helpful in our advancing years.
You speak for yourself!

(assuming all the ULEZ non-compliant cars will have been sold
or scrapped by then).
Universal Road User Charging has been at least 10 years in the making. A former work colleague was working on it before 2010. The technology wasn’t available then. It will definitely happen in London, otherwise the £250m worth of new ULEZ cameras will be redundant in 3 or 4 years time (assuming all the ULEZ non-compliant cars will have been sold
or scrapped by then).
This is the London Assembly consultation:

At the moment Fuel Duty acts as a distance based charge on road usage. Obviously it doesn’t apply to EVs which seems quite unfair, as they do use the roads and indeed do use fuel even if it is produced by power stations and wind farms.
As EVs become more prevelant, Road User Charging is inevitable for all of us.
Unfortunately...many miserable people can't escape the thing that makes them miserable. No matter where you go, there you are...as they say.The thing is with London, it was a dirty city, the place has had great improvements in air quality, apparently salmon now swim up the Thames in London. If at this point you still don’t think the air quality is good enough for you and your family it’s time to move out of London. It’s not London that needs to change anymore, responsibility falls on the individual who’s still unhappy to find another place to live he’s content.
Very true Den.Unfortunately...many miserable people can't escape the thing that makes them miserable. No matter where you go, there you are...as they say.
The issue is compounded by a lack of public transport as an alternative.Bristol now have this charge which would cost me £9 to go into Bristol. But they are sneaking ba4tards as it starts outside the town centre but captures the main car park so not only do you pay for the ULEZ charge you have to pay for parking. Plus no park and ride so you have no option. We have not been since the charge started and Cardiff is now getting our business and actually is a far better place than Bristol these days.
