James, yes, you just put your mid boxes back on, our X pipe is a direct swap item.

As for the rear boxes, you could reverse this but its the X pipe that holds all the noise, and remember, you always have the valve closed mode with the GS boxes that can me wired up to a simple switch to override it whether it be in sport or normal.

We have found that for those requiring GS boxes, they can be had for £500 a set so with the mod you are looking at £700 mark all in with postage, not too bad considering Larinis are nearly 3 times the price.

Great work Matt & Ian, lovely sound and I get the Ferrariesque bit for sure with that high end growl... Just what is needed.

I'll keep an eye out for a set of valved rears. I've not taken a really close look at the back boxes in situ but would it be possible to rig a manual bypass pipe on standard 4200 back boxes with a mechanical valve so you could move to straight throughs? Just speculating....

Would be interested in hearing the x-pipe with the sports cats and standard back boxes that I have.

Not sure how much difference it will make, but for 150 quid plus post & fitting its worth trying. Add me to the list, Matt.

Not yet, am going to think about placing an order for an batch of 10 or even 20, just need an idea of numbers.

Ill also look into getting some GS boxes done for off the shelf.

Final prices are to be confirmed so nothing concrete as yet. Also, you would be buying them not refundable. Once you order we cant take them back.

so you'll supply me with a GS rear box, I'd have to fit it and then ship you my old GS box back, is that right,..? So there is no x-pipe to change also?

Yesterday when I was at GT Autos there was another GS in (a red one from Leicester with a bad oil leak, it was an early one, anyone from here?) with my car on the ramp next to it I was able to compare the difference between the two cars, there seems like there was a fair bit of difference between the front cats as mine were much smaller and in a slightly different position, apparantly it was also a different resonator. Gary @ GT said there was quite a few differences between 05 and 06 onwards cars, which I was surprised at as I'd not heard of this before

After seaking Gary's advice on how best to improve the exhaust without creating to much hassle and cost I decided to keep the header cats (as he said they were modern and good quality, keep the current lambda's in place then delete the secondary's and run a custom x-pipe which removes the resonator

Took the car to MIJ for the work (slow and up their price when it's a Maserati) and got the work done and it has made quite a bit of difference, sound is about the same when not under load and no drone but when using a bit of throttle the car is now louder and has more of a rasp and there's some nice pops and crackles on the overrun, sounded a bit like a 360 I've heard with a Capristo but with more bass

Next stop will be getting the SM back box mod then I think I'll stop tinkering with the exhaust :)

Matt - are these made of stainless or mild steel? If stainless, what grade? Any pics of the X-pipe?

Do you have a picture of the SM X pipe?
I assume its similar to others on the market? .....I know it's hidden but is it seamless or made up of butt welded components? Polished or descaled stainless steel, grade of stainless steel? Martensitic (possibly 410 being magnetic) or Austenitic (304 or 316 non magnetic).
Cheers!

Matt - sorry, haven't had time to read the entire thread. Are these for GS only? Would be interested in 3200 x-pipe to go with my Tubi back boxes.

Not sure, you would have to check Eurospares and see if the mid boxes are the same part numbers.

Looking at your pic - they're not the same
Errrr.....what can you see that I can't?The X-pipe is the one Matt fitted to his car recently. First pic is on the floor before fitting. 2nd pic is of the same pipe fitted to his own car.
