It's funny because many people have talked about changing cat cells/sport cats etc. to improve sounds/performance - I decided to remove the secondary cats altogether and replace with sections of straight pipes and I honestly could hardly notice any difference at all to both sound (perhaps a very very slight improvement when idling) and performance.

Mine's a different car I know, but I have recently replaced the standard centre box with a free flowing Larini box and the standard cats have gone altogether to be replaced by Larini race pipes. The car is definitely more responsive and exciting but the sound difference is subtle under normal driving although does roar beautifully under heavy acceleration. This is with standard rear boxes, for now at least

That's because changing one section does next to nothing. If you want a lot more sound, change another section and with sports cats I would suggest the back boxes. If you want a slightly more subtle sound, change the centre box and leave the rears standard.

It's interesting to read how different mods affect the car in different ways. I went the i) remove secondary cats ii) fit Larini rears to achieve a nice improvement in sound. Hope to hear your's Stuart and Benny one day.

When Matt posts up the videos up from yesterday you will see we have done several different configurations (all with standard cats);

Standard, valves closed and open
Unsilenced X-pipe, standard rears, valves closed and open
Standard centre box, heavily modified rears, valves closed and open
Unsilenced X-pipe, heavily modified rears, valves closed and open

We did it this way so people have an idea what each config sounds like but we left Matts in the final one and it sounds fantastic; a really sporty sound with a harder 'edge' and a lot more volume. It's really nice, but it will be interesting to see what you guys think.

My Spyder bass GS boxes and some trickery and it sounds just about perfect IMO, a lovely burble and a real snarl on full throttle that and the lovely spit on the over run

Does next to nothing? Your cars sounds great! It has a nice pop and crack on lift off and downchange. I must admit having heard the videos posted earlier in this thread I don't like the sound it is too fast a rev and too high pitched a noise and would just become irritating for me. Don't ruin your car Simon!!!!

Hi Phil

Sorry in the earlier post I haven't been clear - I firstly removed the secondary cats and there was barely a change. So a few weeks later I then fitted the Larini rears which is really what you heard last week.

I'm not going to change anything further now - I think it now sounds as it gets for me. Am still interested to hear Benny and Matts' clips though, although I think it's not possible to reflect the full picture (sound) on video clips, got to hear it in the flesh!

Thank you for the feedback on how mine sounds, it's good to get other's opinions.

Simon
