Just tried to update mine (cabled) and the ****ing thing has thrown my phone into recovery mode!!! Absolutely fuming!!! All the stuff I have on my phone. notes, mileage records, photo's.......

****ing Apple are increasingly testing my patience. I've spent tens of thousands of £££'s on their clobber and they can't even get a simple software update right. Muppets.

You did backup before doing it, just restore from that for now.

Servers are down due to demand, the 5C & S have just been released this morning so its a bad time to upgrade.

What I did was download the new software only then install it...just in case something like this happened.

Is it plugged in to your computer, Newton? Apparently that method is less prone to error.

Interesting Adam, I've always done upgrades just on the mains adapter so as not to have the device talking to a PC and getting confused.

I'll try it later.

Definitely my preferred option, to do it wireless, but back up to iTunes first just in case the iCloud backup doesn't catch everything.

Same with Christinas....always looses info when downloading....

Not happy, some of her notes are important for cases

I don't bother upgrading as it is generally more trouble than it's worth. I just leave it as it is and it works well enough for me. My next phone will be a Samsung (again) as I feel Apple are starting to take the p!ss. They seem to be trying too hard to show they can still do it without Steve Jobs but are starting to screw up.

That's the reason they do what they do; to engender brand loyalty however they can. To me it's bollox and I refuse to follow the herd. There was a 50 yard queue outside the Apple store in the Florida mall and I refused to join it on principle. Life is too short to get forced fed the Apple doctrin. Samsung for me, because it isn't Apple.

I run a iPhone for pleasure and a Samsung Galaxy for work.
Like them both, but certainly the iPhone is less hassle.
For example with the Barclays banking app on the android, Barclays strongly recommend anti virus software on the phone, which is free through them but hassle.
I think you have to be careful buying the iPhone in the US for use in Europe, 4G is on a different band I believe. I understand that the iPhone 5 is not compatible for 4G in Europe (even those sold in the UK!) so those with a 5 can't use 4G, but the new 5c/s can.

Works the same as the slide to unlock, so not needed to answer the phone or take a photo, but needed to make a call or view old photos etc..
