That's actually quite relevent as Shell Optimax is a true 99RON fuel so that closes the gap even more!

Also, half a tank weighs about 40 kg less than a full tank; every little helps!

Frank I can be factual about real differences in my old 123 230E Merc between standard 95 RON and Optimax where the 0-60 improved by 3 seconds, I would get nearly 30% more range and the response was massively different....

More modern cars I struggle to notice any real differnce and I believe it may be that they detect the better fuel and lean the mixture accordingly (some anecdotal evidence for BMW doing this)...

I was half expecting to just see the nose of my car towards the end of the run, but no.
From where I was sat this difference was microscopic. Yes it did gain slightly but by no more than say a car being on the inside lane around a bend.

So, in conclusion:
What do you get for just under a grand?
A nice print out of a graph with two marginally different plots on it.

Would I recommend it?
Only if you really like graphs.

The mutterings of remapping a 4.2 to make it the same as a GTS: Never gonna happen.

Complete waste of money then Dan...But then I had the feeling that you thought that last time we spoke...................I would take you findings back to DMS...

Yep, confirmed my feeling Andy.

Not sure that I'd have much of a leg to stand on if I were to go back to DMS. They sell an increase in BHP, I got an increase in BHP.
Oh well, glad to have done my bit for the forum...

That's as maybe Dan but you could just put them in the picture for their developement..........You never know perhaps yours is a one off and they will look at it again for you.....Maybe...

Have you driven each others?

There are other factors. Every car's output is different, Matt's may be high up on power naturally.

Besides, Matt's has red leather...

Great post and lots of chat.

I guess 35bhp was never going to be that material. DMS have provided what they stated. My view is that you need a 20% power to weight advantage to see anything on the road, not going to happen with 7/8%.

Maserati state 405PS for the 4.2 GT and 440PS for the 4.7 irrespective of gearbox but you need the 4.7 in Sport to get that. They do not state what the 4.7 gives in Normal mode. As for the Stradale, it is listed as 450PS but you need to be in Race to get the full beans. Interestingly the Maserati website now states 450PS for the MC Shift 4.7 which seems strange when the printed literature states 440PS and the 4.7 engine is the same in both applications and when the exhaust valves are open they are open.

It's great if stock 4.7 GTs have been measured at 30-40PS that what is stated but for the purposes of relativity, a 4.2 with a 35PS DMS upgrade should give the same output as a 4.7. Part of the relative feel of this one will be the gearbox with the MC Shift having lower ratios. I still think there is mileage for someone going to DMS with a 4.2.
