Alternative parts, what everyone needs to know...

Not exactly an alternative part, but if you ever have to remove the rear spoiler that the exhausts go through you will probably find that the metal inserts come unscrewed with the countersunk torq screws it is fixed in with.
I had some metal inserts made which didn’t work too well. After I had done this I was in the local hardware store and spotted the very items. They are the same inserts that are used for fixing screws into the high density fiber board they use for fitted kitchens and flat pack furniture! So you just need some of these and some epoxy glue and some new stainless steel countersunk cap screws.

Can't quite figure out a collective Dropbox though. Given the weather will continue to be rubbish this weekend, I doubt I'll be working on the car much, so I'll give it some further thought.

Hmm. Think I binned the seized inserts. I am away for 2/3 weeks but next time I'm in Zarooni the local hardware emporium I will try to remember to look for them and take some pics. I think they were 8 mm fine threads inside. One of the machine shop ones has pulled our I think as it did not tighten properly but I left it as I did not want to risk pulling more out if I took the spoiler off again.
You would think on an expensive car like a Maserati they would use s/steel for things like that. The exhaust flange cap screws were the same and I managed to shear one even using heat.

Thanks to Cobratwin, I've uploaded an Excel sheet to the shared dropbox folder which lists all the alternatives I've been able to find.
Dave or I can invite you to share that folder for any other Maserati related stuff, or for a convenient place to store your backups of Sat Nav discs, for example.
