The way I remember it from the racing days....the grooves help to keep the pads from glazing, wilst the drillings in the disc let the hot gases caused by the friction of the pad escape

This was my understanding as well.

OK, all the groove talk is academic. The discs they sent me are for a BMW, but the part number (09.8961.76) doesn't exist on the Brembo database or on the "master" list that AP Brakes have, so no-one is sure what they actually are or whether they will fit. AP are sending me a returns label so I can send them back. They are stumped as to why they sent these across as replacements for the 550 brakes.

The correct part numbers for the Ferarri 550 standard drilled discs from Brembo are : 09.6802.20 for the fronts, 09.5519.30 for the rears.

So, I spoke to a few brake disc suppliers (maybe ten), and they all quoted between 3 and 7 weeks for them to get a pair in stock...then I tried amazon on a whim. They have them, apparently in stock (6 left), just type the part number into their search tool. 85 quid including vat and free delivery, so not as cheap as AP (79), but if their promise of stock is true then it's worth the extra.

Also a company called misterauto.co.uk has them for an extra tenner each. 95.54 plus 5.95 p&p

Hope so. At least there seem to be some suppliers around, but most say the same thing, the older model discs can take a long time.

Hi all,
When I was searching for control arm replacement of the 3200GT, i found something else.
The power steering rack of the 3200 is produced by LIZARTE, code 01521100.
A French website sell it for 3XX Euro, a thousand cheaper than eurospare. Please take a look.

http://www.yakarouler.com/reference/lizarte/01521100,381,

I wonder if they make a RHD version....you can get the original TRW steering racks rebuilt

Are these the the parts your looking for?

Ok, I took two bags of parts into MOTEX in Romford today but my usual guy was off today, none the less Keith was very helpful and has set me up with a meeting tomorrow morning with a hose suppliers. I have removed EVERY water hose off my beastie (separate thread to follow) and I'm going to see about having a hose kit put together ideally out of silicone.

In the meantime I have got a match on the Auxiliary Belt: Gates P/N: 6PK1540 from MOTEX http://www.motexgroup.com/ £11.93 + VAT £14.32 Total

(Eurospares £28.12)

Motex will happily put the hose kit deal together for us :)

Ok hoses are delivered to the specialist to match up a set of silicone ones. Some of the bent ones may be a special order but are doable. It may be there is a minimum order of 10 sets to bust this monopoly but hopefully there is enough interest on here. I could even approach Eurospares and indies to take orders?

PM me if you are interested in a set, no price yet but even in silicone it will be less than list OEM.

These don't go wrong often, I don't think - but I now have a spare indicator/wipers stalk set after replacing mine with one that has cruise control. If anyone needs it, let me know. : )
