Do you know if there is any alternative part for the AIR FILTER apart from BMC and similar? I know the 4200 uses many parts from Fiat and Alfa Romeo. It the AIR FILTER of the Maserati 4200 the same than the Alfa 166?

Excellent, finally the great GT/QP brakes issue gets fully addresses by one if not two sources!!!

Right, suddenly struck me having just washed Mrs Catman's 147 and then the Maser, that the aerials are identical.

Quick check on ebay, and yea, it is so.

So anyone want to save £60....

Big plus mark to AP Brake Discs (www.apbrakediscs.co.uk). I ordered the Brembo 550 rear discs from them, but they weren't in stock.

They just called to offer an upgrade to the "Max" version with no extra charge. Happily accepted their offer and hope to have them early next week.

The "max" are grooved, and I guess are more expensive. I didn't ask further, but may give them a call back later.

Edit : OK, they say they cool down much quicker, so give better performance. I'll let you know what they are like when I get them (photo time!) and when they are fitted.

I had a set of grooved and drilled, they were great brakes, but noisier than just drilled..!! AP Brakes must have got back to normal, they were moving a short time ago and service was abysmal at the time, I went elsewhere.

I suppose normal drilled are fine for every day use but grooved better if a really demonic driver or do track days?

Hmmm, better get some put on the front as well then...

Had another chat with them, and they say the Max ones are meant as road discs, good for "spirited" driving. As I'm hoping to do another tour des Alpes in September, they might be a good idea for the twisty downhill bits!

I have grooved Brembo disks all round, and yes harder on the pads, noisier in use but pads wear more evenly and so your disks stay flat, and personally i think the braking is better, more bite, can't justify that its just a feeling.

They are vented in the middle, grooved on the face but no drill-holes. Look just like the AP Brake Discs website picture for them, ten slightly wavy grooves on each face.

I'm waiting for the pads to arrive then I'll get them all fitted as soon as I can.
