Once you've got these sorted Benny, could you move on to a QP setup. pretty please? Had I still had my 42, I would have been at the head of the list for these mods. Now I've got the QP, I'm feeling a bit left out

We'll see what we can do a bit later in the year. I am sure we can do something to help.

It sounds good Matt.....Not as deep as the Larini so probably easier to live with maybe...

The drone was what forced me to sell on my Larini back boxes when I had my 4200. It came in between 2800 & 3500 rpm. Just about the range for driving in town. It was intolerable.

Elliott do you know if that drone comes irrespective of the rest of the exhaust configuration? i.e do you get it as a result of the back boxes regardless if other exhaust mods have or have not been done?

Yes I have a drone with my unvalved Larini's.
It's weird, it is a noise, but the noise virtually dis appears when you open a window slightly...which allows the noise 'pressure' to disappear!
Would really like to sort the problem out though.

Easy. Buy a spyder and keep the roof down. Simples!

That's it though, the exhaust noise is outside of the cabin, but somehow gets in, then is released if the cabin is not sealed with a window lowered slightly?!
It must be the low pressure deep bass sound waves that travel through into the steel cabin shell, that bounce around inside and can't escape unless a window is open.

I just spoke to MIJ as they're local to me about what they could offer, he was suggesting I go for new rear boxes at £450 fitted but I don't want to change to non-valved, he said they could do an x-pipe replica of the Larini fitted for £385, he also didn't seem interested in replacing the x-pipe silencer with some straight pipe. Not sure what I'm going to do yet but a bit more noise and a few extra ponies wouldn't go amiss

MIJ built some stainless rear boxes for my old 3200 and did a really good job. Not boomy and a more sporty noise. My GS is a different thing altogether though - I have valved Larini rear boxes and am addicted to the noise. So much so that I've had the solenoid disconnected and the exhaust is always fully open. I can't really think of a time when I would want to drive the car in 'quiet' mode.

Do you just have the larini rear valved boxes? Any x pipes or Decat?

Has anyone ever fitted an x-pipe and sports cats with standard 4200 rear boxes??

Would it sound similar to if you did the same thing to a GS?
