Did you see the A6G Zagato? Poetry in motion.

EVERYTHING they have there is absolutely gorgeous isn't it Miles.

They gave me the full VIP tour, it was like looking around a motor museum, wonderful!

Don't know whether you saw Stephen Dowling's lime green Ghibli SS? A five year ground up restoration! I saw it at Stanford. It's one of my lottery cars - just perfect.

Because of the calibre of work they carry out, I've always assumed their labour rates would tip the balance to the wrong side of an insured repair, but if this is wrong, then I can't think of a safer pair of hands.

Oh yes.
body work better than when it left the factory and paint a mile deep.
indeed a beautiful thing!

They should have open days there, just to let us salivate over their work.

Just been informed it's a write off :sad3:

I suppose I should prepare myself for the fight I will have with the insurance company over money now.

Just seen another smashed 3200 at Autoshield. Not a pretty sight. Front, side and rear mangled. At least the driver got out ok.

generally insurance companies are pretty good with payouts on the high end cars, yet to hear of anyone disgruntled with a masser payout , just have as much paperwork available service sheets etc etc , and i'd even go as far as to get an independant valuation before they even start to negotiate an offer ,

Remember, if they don't play nicely, you are within your rights to appoint your own Loss Adjuster working on your behalf. His fees will ultimately be paid by your insurers and won't come out of your pocket. He will be there to fight your corner. Knowing they are fighting a professional, and knowing they are paying his fees, helps sharpen their act.

Some times just mentioning you are considering appointing one has the desired affect.

Gutted for you Mac. That's three 3200 write-offs I know if in the last seven days. They seem to be falling like flies at the moment. Hope there's a deal to be done and that a a repair is viable.

Thats a dreadful tally Miles.......I know I had posted some time ago when they were new out, the death of a local director in his 3200 in N Ireland , then a few years ago a well know chef killed when he went through a fence.....dangerous in the hands of the unwary.....

Thanks everyone.
not only for the heart felt thoughts, but in the good advice given.
so, next step is to wait for the insurance to get in touch.

trying to put a positive spin on things (and to make myself feel a bit better) at least: -

the 18 year old was insured, many aren't as we all know
he admitted liability immediately to my wife and soon after to his insurance company.
no one was hurt too badly.
his dad came round to apologise to me, ok small consolation but he was genuinely gutted for me and he didn't have to do that.
I haven't owned it long enough to completely fall in love with it, I can't imagine what I would feel like if I'd had spent months machine polishing, leather cleaning, fettling the engine etc to make it perfect.

so all in all I'm lucky (in a way)

I'll keep you posted on the outcome of the insurance discussions.

BTW, is there a special "bl**dy unlucky Member" status that goes along with this type of thing?

Mark,

Fair dues to them for fessing up.

You are taking the right attitude, beautiful though they are cars are only metal glass and plastic. The main thing is you and your family are unhurt.

Good luck

I have no knowledge of this company but I would never use anyone who offers these services.

Personally I feel that his father coming round to apologise is how things should be but few people behave that way - well done to him!

Last year, someone took off my wing mirror with their supermini and admitted liability to both me and their insurer. There are honest people out there.

I am sorry for you and hope that you can get another 3200 that you like.
