GTs Niggles

Hi All

Have had my car GTs Auto now for a few months and love it to death but have noticed the following niggles:

- Driver side mirror glass vibrates above 30 mph
- Parking sensors have developed a fault and don't work, which is a pain as car is bigger that the average parking bay
- Cannot get Ipod to work via console even though it is meant to have the USB version that is compatible
- the remote would not let me into the car when was filling up last week so had to use the keys to bypass
- Uploading CDs to the jukebox is really slow so havn't bothered
- Sat Nav system is very weak

Other problems identified
- keeping driving with window down to listen to engine much to the annoyance of my girlfriend
- can't stop grinning everytime I start the engine
- people taking pics of the car on their phones when driving and nearly wiping you out.

Its been a total blast and will get the niggly bits fixed in the New Year.

Jay glad your enjoying the GTS I am loving mine to. It has no niggles at all which is strange for an Italian car!

If you have multiple electrical issues it may trace back to one common item, fuse or multiblock

Let us know how you get on.

Jay, other that the vibrating mirror glass and the dodgy remote I echo all of your points... Particularly the window down, regardless of weather!

If I'm going anywhere that I need to use sat nav I'll use my TomTom instead, the standard one's biggest weakness is the lack of postcode input, wouldn't be too bad otherwise. Surely it could be added with a software update?

You could also add the fairly naff stereo to the list, but to be honest the best entertainment comes from the open window ;)

The only decent sat nav I have or have had is on my Discovery3 as it takes the whole postcode. None of the German manufacturers ones do. In fact in my garage at the moment I have a loan E Class Merc as someone took the mirror off my GTS with their car. The delivery driver had to call as the Merc partial postcode system could only get him four miles from my house! So it's not just a Maser issue.

Sometimes the fuel gauge on mine goes up and down and I have had a couple of check engine lights which go away after a restart. Fine other than that.

Always wise to watch the condition of the battery - I have the battery conditioner on mine which is easy to use.

I managed to get a full post code Sat Nav disc for my BM, so they are out there. Judging by the logo on the front it is a from the factory too, so it looks like a software issue to upgrade from partial to full post code.

See answers beside issues.....;)

- Driver side mirror glass vibrates above 30 mph.....keep it below said figure then.............;)...if you exceed it, then exceed it by quite a bit and fold said mirror in.....;)
- Parking sensors have developed a fault and don't work, which is a pain as car is bigger that the average parking bay....do what they do in Paris....park it anywheres and just pay the fine.....result!
- Cannot get Ipod to work via console even though it is meant to have the USB version that is compatible.......WTF is wrong with dropping the window 2.5 cms and listening to the mellifluous exhaust note like the rest of us do...??!!!....
- the remote would not let me into the car when was filling up last week so had to use the keys to bypass...obvious operator error...........
- Uploading CDs to the jukebox is really slow so havn't bothered...see ipod answer
- Sat Nav system is very weak........wear a blonde wig when you stop and ask for directions....no one will know......

Other problems identified
- keeping driving with window down to listen to engine much to the annoyance of my girlfriend
- can't stop grinning everytime I start the engine
- people taking pics of the car on their phones when driving and nearly wiping you out.

Problems you say....more like moments of self-abuse....;)....;)

Its been a total blast and will get the niggly bits fixed in the New Year.

There you have it......all dealt with.....NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jay; I don't know if you have either causing the problem with the parking sensors but they are often errored by water or a build up of wax in the fine groves between the parts; I'd recommend getting a detailling brush (fine hogs hair) and carefully working through all of the groves to make sure they are super clear.

Hope it helps; if not It's just being Italian.....!

Hmm, I seem to be able to input postcodes into my S. That said the car was new this year, but the satnav map is at least 2 years older......

Yeti, can you give us some more info, can you put in full 7 digit postcodes or just the first 4 or 5 characters?

I am off up to HR Owen tomorrow, I will see if they can flash the unit to the latest map.

Not got the car with me at present so can't try it out, but am fairly certain I used the full 6 digit code.

Let me know what they say about the latest map, Graypaul are telling me there is none available more recent than what I already have.

Right, I have been informed, the early cars have a 4 digit postcode search, which will get you in the vague area, and is, well, pants!

The later, 2011 onwards spec cars have a 7 digit postcode. It lets you put in the first 3 or 4 digits of the postcode and then will give you the chance to select either the next digit in the postcode of the street name.

The sat navs are specific to Magneti Marelli systems and not the Bose systems.

The forum is being offered the 2011/12 discs update pack which consists of 11 discs for £270 all in, or you can have it simply installed (you get to keep no discs) for £138 all in.

Ill go in with some of you others and buy the disc set, can you please PM me if you are interested.

That's 4 confirmed I am just waiting on 2 others then I'll order them.

That will be 270/6 = £45 each.
