Right, I have been informed, the early cars have a 4 digit postcode search, which will get you in the vague area, and is, well, pants!

The later, 2011 onwards spec cars have a 7 digit postcode. It lets you put in the first 3 or 4 digits of the postcode and then will give you the chance to select either the next digit in the postcode of the street name.

The sat navs are specific to Magneti Marelli systems and not the Bose systems.

The forum is being offered the 2011/12 discs update pack which consists of 11 discs for £270 all in, or you can have it simply installed (you get to keep no discs) for £138 all in.

Ill go in with some of you others and buy the disc set, can you please PM me if you are interested.

I have just been speaking to my parts contact again about this system and I got it slightly wrong.

There are 11 discs or so, one for each country or country group so you just pop in the UK disc if you only wish to update that country so the upgrade is very easy.

As for the postcode, this is where I got it slightly wrong. The system does have full digit postcode searching but it does it in Maserati's inevitably hard way. You start by putting in the first 4 digits then it will give you the street name, of if its not there, you continue to add postcode digit. Its not perfect but much better and for the £50 or so its going to cost, then it is a worthwhile improvement.

Its probably best to check that you have not already got that system already otherwise you will be disappointed and that is the last thing I would wish to have.

Ok, we are up to 5 so far, just after one or even 2 more.

I am going to PM the other GT/S owners now and see if I can drum more up.

Yes, I believe the new disc is 2011/12 or maybe 2010/2011 not sure but it does have 2011 in it somewhere.

Driving with the window down seems to be common to all Maserati owners........in the Gransport though its a pain in the butt if it is raining....................Im thinking of dangling a microphone over the exhaust and feeding the wire back through the car so I can listen to the noise with headphones :tomato9:

Well the new M5 plays synthesised engine noises through its speakers.

Afraid it is true. No idea what is happening at BMW. First runflats (I've owned a 645i - scary in the wet) and now this.

What I would like you all to do is rear the below, it from my Maserati parts contact who is selling us the discs.

I don't want you to get something you were not expecting. Also, I am going to try and drop Magnetti Marelli an email so see if there is another upgrade coming soon or when the next one will be:

Update description over early system:

I have just looked in a car with a 2007/2008 spec sat nav and it does only have 4 digit postcode search.

I have also checked a brand new Grancabrio we have here with 2011 / 2012 spec sat nav and the postcode search is a little more in depth but still not a full 7 digit search.

It lets you put in the first 3 or 4 digits of the postcode and then will give you the chance to select either the next digit in the postcode or the street name.

The sat navs are specific to Magneti Marelli systems and not the Bose systems.

We can now offer a sat nav upgrade for the Magnetti Marelli units to bring them up to 2011/ 2012 spec.

The update pack consists of 11 discs which you run through the car and retails for £318.00.

Ok, I have just had my parts guy to a test

my request

We are attempting to in put PO20 7EG – Apuldram Lane South, Chichester, West Sussex

You can input the PO20 digits then what would happen next, can I put in the 7 or select Apuldram Lane South.

Say I select the 7, what would be shown next, just Apuldram Lane South or would I then be able to input the E and G???

his response

After you have typed in PO20, it then comes up with an option to put 7 in.

At that point, depending on the post code, the sat nav will either then bring up the road name or ask you for the 6 digit in the post code, in this case E.

...so its not full 7 digit postcode but far improved.
