Boomerang conversion on a 4200

That looks just what I was suggesting on my first post on the topic. The question is, does the profile of the boomerangs match the 4200 rear wings without modification?
If so, a bolt in job.
I would go with that, can then revert back at time of sale.
That extra panel gap line would not niggle me.
Cheers
Mike

From the photograph above, the answer would seem to be yes Mike. Bit more than a bolt-in job, as you still need to form the light bracket, check / swap the electrics and source the boot lid, but yes certainly less involved than cutting in the 3200 rear quarters.

If you don't have to put an angle grinder to the car, sounds good to me!

not at all , same as MFI just a braddle, hammer, and a screwdriver no seriously the old light box receivers can be drilled, through the spot welds and removed and the new replacement 3200 ones spot welded back in change the boot for a 3200 one , fit all the lights and wire them up with the 3200 led gubbins , when your happy with the gaps, take it all back off again prep and paint it , what i would advice re the bottom seal joint would be to use autobody joint sealer and paint over it , that way to removethem will leave no lasting damage.....its really not that difficult

My bone of contention would be whether to fit a 3200 rear bumper or not , or possibly cut the oval slots into the gransport rear bumper to take the rear tail/reflectors lights

Regarding the rear bumper, I would add a couple of inch and a half diameter red reflectors behind the mesh on the GS style number, or above the diffuser on the early cars, to keep legal.

The rear reflectors on the 3200 are the same as the Fiat Bravia Estate, and sorry Loz they do not light up unless you shine a ligt at them or show them your smile!

You would need some electric gubbings to by pass the 'Bulb Out' warning as the LED's will draw so little power it may confuse the ECU for the warning systems on the dash mounted info pannel

Someone told me the 3200 come with its own little box of tricks as part of the rear light looms , obviosly you would want them aswell or you could just have an inline bulb hidden inside the boot , pretty sure D A said they have a box of tricks tho

Fantastic, easily the way to go IMHO as reversible, sell your car with the stock bits and everyones a winner; glad to see that fitting it doesn't lop 1,000cc of your engine!

Yup, nice solution. How much is it?

The bootlid and reverse lights are not that hard to find or particularly expensive. It's the LED boomerangs themselves that are the issue.

I have a set of lights, I took my time and got them for about a grand all in for the 4 parts or the boomerangs.

I paid about the same again for the rear end parts, loom and transformers.

Paint and welding will run to another grand I recon but it could be done for half that if you done paint the entire rear end.

I've fired off an email to ask if they would supply the kit less the 3200GT boot.
Silly to ship one over when they are available over here easily.
