Boomerang conversion on a 4200

Okay, this is the perfect opportunity to ask these two questions....

I have the MCV. Do I go for the conversion?
If I decided to sell in a couple of years, would the conversion encourage you to purchase from me, or put you off?

Answers on a postcard.. :D

I think the conversion looks great. But if you have it done properly, it will cost around the 7K Euro mark (or at least that is what Franco Auto were charging, IIRC).

It won't add to the sell price. I would argue that it might make the car slightly harder to sell, not because it isn't desirable but because some potential buyers will be afraid of resell issues.

But Maserati ownership is all about enjoyment and pushing the envelope - not money. I spent 7K in mods on my first GranSport then promptly sold it. I don't regret that at all, it made what was a 90% car complete for me.

No, it isn't up for sale at all. It has been put up for sale by the owner who was responsible for the conversion but the car was purchased almost instantly by the current owner (who is very happy with the car)

Although "Boomerang" owns a GS, he is not the owner of the converted MCV, that is another guy.

Looks good but the only bit that doesn't work for me is that it looks to busy where the lights are under the carbon spoiler.....SOmething not right there for me....Perhaps its the angle..

I could have always priced it £7K Pat and feasted myself a healthy profit , my pricing was for arranging doing it myself via my own bodyshop supplied with the necessary parts , What with prices dropping like they have in recent years im really surpised the a slight loss of resale price would be be a decision breaker , if i wasn't intending to get into something else this year i would definately have a crack on the 4200

Honestly??
A GS with a conversion id pay more for and so would others but an MCV? Not sure...its rare and people like them standard!
Itll be a waste to do it on an MCV as they rare which is why they cpmmand more money buying them....

An MCV still has Honda lights regardless.... Whichever way you look at it the Boomerangs only go to enhance the beauty of the car. SO are a good thing. Sure you may have purists that want to keep a car standard, but if you are willing to change the wheels, the exhaust, chip the car then changing the lights is no big deal. An MCV with Boomerang lights is even rarer is another way of looking at it.

Obviously it would need to be done professionally and documented.

I say do it, I recon, come time of sale, there will be an orderly que forming on here.

But if you were to sell it on the open market, I think the story would be very different.

Please note that the conversion on the MCV offered for sale in Germany has been done differently. Compare this pic with the above pic from the car that was converted by Franco (which is much nicer IMO):

Ouch. That one looks very aftermarket by comparison. There's no substitute for doing it the expensive way!

I missed that. I can see where they are coming from, this way you only need to paint the fill panels and boot, and not both quarters, roof, A pillars and door shuts.

Ok its not perfect but its a very cleaver way of doing it.

I don't particularly like the seem line, but I guess it does allow for an easier return to the stock lights if that what the new owner wants, especially assuming the original boot is still available.

Point well made miles....
I like the 1st one but that 2nd one can look alright if you ever want to revert back....

That looks just what I was suggesting on my first post on the topic. The question is, does the profile of the boomerangs match the 4200 rear wings without modification?
If so, a bolt in job.
I would go with that, can then revert back at time of sale.
That extra panel gap line would not niggle me.
Cheers
Mike
