Boomerang conversion on a 4200

I know this has been discussed before, but if you had a scrap 4200 light cluster, and a scrap 3200 rear end, would it be possible to cut out the 3200 rear end to the shape of the 4200 light cluster, stick them both together butchering the 4200 light cluster, and bolt it in?! Of course also swopping the boot lids.
You would just end up with an additional panel gap above the bumper, which would be hardly noticeable.
I can't imagine it being cost effective to market, but if I had all the parts in front of me, and it being a work bench job, quite possible I think?
Am I missing something?
Cheers

For sure it's possible, I looked into it with David Askew supplying parts.

You biggest expense are the lights. A new set is something ridiculous like £2k so salvage is the way to go as you also need the bootlid (£100 exchange) the lights and the mounting brackets. The job is quite straight forward to do, my issue was that you would have to paint half the car to match correctly (both rear quarters, roof, A posts and boot.)

I think it would add to the cars value, its a custom car and an improvement imo. I'd pay a premium for a GS/4200 with Boomerang lights.

Nick...we see buyers of cars with Larinis on them.......they want them off mostly.....................simple enough to do................for majority they will look at a hybrid, heavily modified car etc....and walk away

Interesting that the Dutch MCV with the conversion has been up for sale I beleive for a while. Interesting to hear from their forum members whats the go with this - perhaps its just a tough climate to sell these cars.

Very appealing retro fit particularly if the car is going to be a keeper

No, it isn't up for sale at all. It has been put up for sale by the owner who was responsible for the conversion but the car was purchased almost instantly by the current owner (who is very happy with the car)

Although "Boomerang" owns a GS, he is not the owner of the converted MCV, that is another guy.

Okay, this is the perfect opportunity to ask these two questions....

I have the MCV. Do I go for the conversion?
If I decided to sell in a couple of years, would the conversion encourage you to purchase from me, or put you off?

Answers on a postcard.. :D

I started this thread, with the idea of a reversible solution, not weld in no going back solution, however...
Seeing the picture of the GS with boomerangs I'm not quite sure now to be honest...the 3200 is what it is, and the 4200/GS is what it is.
It's unusual making something look older than it is, usually it's the other way around.
I think personally, after seeing a picture on the GS, I'll stick to what I have!

Miles

I feel it would sell quicker than most being a MC V may give the some of the owners club a heart attack but I for one would seriously consider it.
