OMG, Benny will not be happy he has been out done!

Not really. The turbos absorb a lot of energy and smooth out the firing pulses so a 3200 running open pipes won't be as loud as a 4200 running open pipes. But it's not just about the absolute loudness (ok, my anti-french Le Mans spec system might be) it's about a sound each owner is happy with. Dumping exhaust gas out under the car doesn't really tick my box but I will reserve judgement until I've heard one.

Personally if I were going to have a loud exhaust note, I would prefer a trumpet type noise rather than a very loud breaking wind type noise..!!

Here you go, me driving ******* a skidpan. Gives you a bit of an idea what the system sounds like.

It's a matter of taste, I know, but that sounds american to me.

More importantly, what's the idea of a gravel covered skidpan?!

Sounds good and not overly loud, but, as Catman says, it does sound very American for an Italian sportscar. Maybe it's because the 3200 'only' revs to 6-6500 whereas the 4200 revs to 7500 (or in my case 8-8500).

Yes the gravel is a bit confusing for a skid pan.

Benny,
How do you get yours to rev to 8K+, removed limiter, or adjusted it..?? Do you get any additional torque for the extra revs, as opposed to a standard car at 7.5K..??

Cheers

Personally, I think it sounds american all the way up, but like I say, some people like that.

When I got it DMSed they told us the red line would get lifted from 7500 to 7900, but it isn't there at all on mine. 3 or 4 times now I've accidently taken it into the red zone, out the other side and bounced the needle of the instrument light adjuster. I can feel the power dropping off then, probably because the valves are bouncing but it just seems to keep going. It pulls well right through the rev range but I don't know if it's producing any more torque with the extra revs but I certainly surprised Grinzzz at Bruntingthorpe, so I suppose it is!

Mmmm, that sounds interesting...!!!
Ian,
Did you go down south to have yours done, or somewhere up north and at what sort of cost for a remap..??
Cheers

One thing for sure, the standard motor at 7500 isn't even trying, so don't worry about taking it to the red line. It has plenty left in hand which is great to know!

Ian,
See previous edit..

I almost always red line it, sometimes until the limiter kicks in and then it goes doooo until I change, it always feels it should have a bit more..!!

There was a group mapping session down in the Southampton area at a discounted rate about 2 years ago. If you want it done, give them a ring, tell them you are a SMer and ask if the discounted rate still applies. Honestly, I can't remember how much it was, perhaps someone else can remember and give you a pm. It might, sorry would, be better to keep the figure out of the public domain.

If you look at my dyno graph from earlier this year (bogo apart from larini rear boxes) everything was on its way down by 7k, so not sure the advantage of increasing the rev range.
On track with an instructor, I was initially changing up near the red line, but after instruction I was during the circuit one gear higher changing gear at a low engine speed...more in line with the torque curve.

That looks a bit strange to me as there is a lot of fluctuation in the lower rev band. Perhaps the wheels were slipping on the rollers. Not far off standard output though (390bhp and 333lbs/ft). The reason mine seems to pull better may be because the standard cats will be strangling your gas flow at high rpm and the power will start to drop. Mine has sports cats and little or no gas flow problems due to silencing.
