Hi,

I need a few good pictures from underneath the car, showing the EU version of the exhaust system. I am particullary interested into resonator section vs x-pipe and in various decat options. Please throw anything you have in here.

Thanks!

Hi, what are they aimed at being used for? Did have some pictures of the OEM x-pipe and my sports cat, I'll see if I can dig them out.

Richard how are you finding the setup? I know the sound became a bit Ferrari-eske with the standard rears... what did you end up doing for your back boxes??

Luke.

Back boxes are OEM and yes the sound is very Ferrari-eske with a high pitch howl at about 3500 rpm to redline. I am happy with the setup and it does seem to have given me marked more power. However, I haven't had it on a dyno to check. Some day down the track I might have a go at the back boxes. I also need to get a decent camera and mate to film a drive by to hear exactly what they sound like from outside.

That looks like a nice clean airflow through the difficult under/over section, no squashed pipes threading their way round obstacles...or is that just the angle the photo was taken from?

No you are correct - it's explicitly what I asked for as I wanted to free up the airflow as much as possible.

hey look like original Cats and a new Cat-Back System, or am I mistaken..?

No the original ones were taken out, those are sports cats. It's essentially all new through to the back boxes.

Pat/Grinzzz, I'm trying to work yours out - compared to Richard's car it looks different. Richard's seems to have lost the primary cats, then has a better designed/flowing 'squish' area followed by sports cats. The ginger GS seems to have the primary cats still in place (big bulbous things with lambda sensors attached) and then better flowing pipes including sports cats. Is that the case? Also, who built the system?

Until Pat gets back....I think (only think mind you) that you're right...it's standard down to where the lambda sensors are and they appear to be on standard primary cats. From there backwards it appears to be custom designed down to the back boxes where it again becomes standard. The custom bit appears very well designed (quite straight compared to many I've seen) and made. Pat has told me who built it - but for the life of me I cant remember!

Exhaust stuff is black arts to me, I tend to know a good system when I see one but how they're designed etc I have no idea.

The primaries you can see are part of the exhaust manifold, so OEM. From thereon back it's all new. Larini now do a decatted manifold. I'm waiting for pricing on it.

I am running Larini decat manifolds, sports secondary cats and x pipe and standard GS back boxes. The car is sensible on part throttle but goes feral on full chat. Epic sound without the need to change the back boxes and noticeably sharper throttle response and power. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures to show you the setup but Formula Dynamics website shows you the individual components.

Richard's system looks to have done away with the primary cats - there's a flange just ahead of what looks like a collector pipe with lambdas attached. There's a better designed squashed bit and then it goes into sports cats - I'd be interested in something like this, just not at Larini's pricing as I reckon it will be eye-watering at best. Grinzzz's car has the OEM primaries still fitted and the new system attached to that from the lower flange.
