X-pipe exhaust query

The cost of tube is minimal.
We use thin wall stainless steel tube in our industry and currently we are buying 2.5" tube with a 1.5mm wall for £12.80 per metre. That's top 316 grade already dull polished.
For exhaust's I don't think it really makes any difference whether 316 or 304, both are austenitic (non magnetic), 316 we use for food contact surfaces or under severe corrosion conditions.
Cheap stainless exhausts are usually made from ferritic stainless steel (magnetic), which is fine, but can tarnish and dull.

If the price is right I will be interested in a X pipe.
To be honest if I had the original pipe on the bench, I could get the lads at work to make me one for beer tokens, but it would not be cost effective to mass produce with our labour rate etc for our industry.
Cheers.

im sure they could make one, but you would need to take a 4200 to them to make the first one up, and i guess you would have to cut your old one off to clamp in the new one, wouldnt look very nice but why does it need to

The 4200 OEM (and aftermarket) x- and h-pipes have the pipes spaced further apart at the front compared to the rear (check Eurospares and Performance Italia websites). The MIJ part looks like the pipes are spaced the same, so it's not going to fit straight out of the box, and a custom fabrication based on an OEM pattern will be needed. Dave

Absolutely, the eBay X pipe is just a universal part.

Well spotted that man, trying to fit a part not designed the same could be a sod of a job..??

I'm starting to get itchy about getting a bit more exhaust noise without the drone.

I should know better after my spending on my last Maser!

If you have your roof down a lot, drone is not an issue in a spyder. Make it as loud as you can!

Not quite. Moves afoot to maybe remove all silencing from the sports cats back. Had it like that for short period a while back but I thought that, on occasions it was a tad anti-social, but I don't really care now. Watch this space.

I'd be tempted to open up the central resonator, remove the internals and zip it up again. Cheap, cheerful, effective and it looks standard.
