I seem to remember a Galliardo with 160k or similar. It was used by one of those driving clubs. It was the subject of a thread IIRC. It can be done!

I know of 2 4200's with engine failure, one was aqua lock so self inflicted and not down to the car and one with oil pump diminishing and swarfs of metal in the engine system, which was rebuilt and still runs fine today.

I think you might be referring to mine, with the aqua lock, it happened at 38k and I've just passed 66k. Therefore the second engine has only done 28k if my maths is correct...on a 2003 plate. PS the bills for the engine replacement was more than what I bought it for.

Nope it was another forum member, whom I won't mention as I don't think he has disclosed it on here.

Simon George's orange Murci has starship miles on it! Something like 200k now, I think. Is that the one you're thinking of? He started 6th Gear driving experiences, amongst other things.

I think it is Woody. It will be interesting to see what mileage it gets to. You have to hand it to the axis, all 3 make very good engines.

I had a look around last night....last I could find was 122k in Nov 2009. I'm pretty sure its still being used for those driving experiences now, so as it was a 54 plate, that could easily have hit the 200k miles.

I'd love to see the bills it's had....I would imagine he's spunked a fortune on it!

Engines go on forever dont they??

Its the looking after them that matters.....

The more basic the engine the longer it goes on for.....

Uncle has a 1995 accord with 350k on it, never gave any probs

I understand tyat these are supercars and quite different to a 1.8 car but is tyere such thing as a bad car nowadays?

Hi Martin
This engine totalled due to Aqua Lock must have been a nightmare. What is aqua lock? could it have been avoided?

Low air intake...just inches above road.....best avoiding ALL standing water in the 4200......not sure about 3200 or later

Simon was in my class at school until he left at 16.
He lives not far away from me, used to see him driving around in the orange Lambo, but funny enough not seen him around for the last few years. Might even have moved.
Sorry thread drift!

From what I've seen of him on PH, he's moved away from cars now and is more in to helicopters. Nice! I met him a few years back at a Lamborghini test day when the Gallardo first came out - he seemed liike a very nice lad. Didnt he use to sell Ferrari/Lamborghini's, then got into property (and Sub ways)? Good luck to him, seems a nice fella and obviously had a good business head on him.
