Spent much of the day working out how to MIG weld aluminium efficiently with Alex and we have dialled it in pretty tidily, seems the secret is to get some thermal mass next to the weld area to draw heat out of the weld.
Aluminium welding is tricky with the mig, Tig is easier as you can use the arc to your advantage , it's a ******* when it's cold so it helps when you heat the parent metal some , sort of gives you a head start before the actual welding induces its own heat.
