Hence why HS2 is so much of a white elephant.
HS2 is just such a huge waste of money.. Surely improving cross country generally would deliver more benefit to businesses around the country. I can only imagine the extra ££ they will attempt to milk out of those of us that do Manchester to London to save a massive 15 - 20 mins from what already rather decent at a shade over 2 hrs so not exactly a game changer...

Agreed. Link Newcastle to Liverpool via Leeds and Manchester instead.

Ok, well best of luck with your future employment.
From what I’ve heard you’ll have the option for a refund or have the balance with CAR magazine - and thanks.

Here’s the last issue - featuring at least three forum people... out this Wednesday. Some supermarkets have already pulled it from sale, so I suggest good independents like Magazine Heaven.

It came through the door today. A collector's item?

Morning all
As a result of my impending lack of mobility we have a new family member.
Meet “Katrina the cleana” and she’s bloody brilliant. Mops and Hoover’s the entire house with the press of a phone app button.

Morning,
Slightly fuzzy, great being on holiday.
Today I may lounge around around and do sweet FA. However, SWMBO may have other plans.
have a good day. Dave

Mad isn’t it Ross; no one up North complains about links to London. We all complain about East West links. It is 80 miles from me to Holyhead, 2h10, it’s 220 to London, 2h5!!!
The train from Leeds to Sheffield takes an hour. How the heck is that possible, that it's that slow.

They absolutely need to speed up train links between these cities, drop the prices and make them more frequent.

When the do the HS2 to Birmingham, they will undoubtedly stop the rest of the project, which, in my view, makes the whole thing pointless.

Morning

Looks like we're a forum member lighter today. A shame given his interesting work on brakes.

Slightly sore head after a nice night in York with friends. Lots of wine!

Last day of the Premier League today, some interesting matches.

I phoned earlier, they have scheduled him for surgery at 10.00 but he has been on IV anti-biotics overnight to get ahead of the infection, it is serious stuff, incredible how fast it blew up!

Poor chap, and such an indignity, Newton. Don't tell him you told us. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Yesterday's floor upheaval (literally) was a semi-triumph, marred by nicking a copper pipe in a completely unexpected corner of the room. Praise be to God for the miracle of self-amalgamating tape. Now I need to wait a while and let everything dry out fully so I know it worked.
