Day 4:

78 mile and it was a tough one due to the head wind. The hills were ok but usually when you power up one, you get the benefit of costing down the other side at speed, but I was met with a terrible head wind which delayed progress. Also the heading was gruelling across the wide open fields too. We got there in the end but it was a struggle and I think I am not fuelling enough to complete with ease. Some parts were stunning and a am still smiling mixing in with some swearing aimed firmly at the oncoming scirocco.

Made it to the farmhouse and what a treat it was too. A brand new renovation with everything we need. Popped in to Tours for diner tonight, it had a very Parisien feel to it and was most enjoyable. Now back at the farmhouse, blowing the froth off a few, early night and back on the road at 7am tomorrow.

Ben sat on his **** again:

Well done Matt. I have been to that area too as it is close to where the ex was from.

Looking less likely I will be able to meet you as my car is delayed again...bugger.

Keep up the good work.

I sense that, despite all the banter, someone is trying to look after his boy when he gets to the lunch stop. Looks like you've both got a good routine up and running, which is worth a lot. Keep up the great work both of you.

Same sh!t different day. Teddy is coming out of his shell a bit, but he is very shy. We'll see if we can get a proper picture of him at some point. ;)

Day 5:

Excellent day! The winds from yesterday were very demrolising but today with a tail wing blew through Southern Loire. Going into Le Massive Central tomorrow. One incident today my front wheel, let go its 120 psi and blew the tyre off the rim, luckily at low speed or it could have been nasty.

Lunch today, Benny abandonded the road kill and went with a more traditional ham and cheese baguetes, followed by noodles, coffee and eclaires. See, he is domesticated and not the oaf his persona portrays.

Some stunning scenery and the obligatory bridge selfie:

Lots of admiration for you. Some of us could only dream of doing this great deed. As so unfit. (Me). That's why I was only to willing to donate to the course. So if you haven't donated yet do so. Keep peddling well done on what you have achieved so far.

Good progress, Matt. And Ben, as well. Here's hoping the wind blows the right way tomorrow. Good luck!

I hope Benny is not consuming the same amount of calories as you Matt!

How's your feeding going, my rule of thumb is usually drink every 15 minutes and eat every 15 miles!
