I'm a member and way off Saga. I know a few of the older members really well and there's some great folk there. We'll all get old one day! There's plenty of younger members too, plenty of whom are also regulars on here.

Sounds like it's the title of Saga's travel brochure ? :blushed: I'm joking don't shoot me :)

OK it was me that bought MAF's car!

Very pleased with my purchase, just getting used to driving it!

IMG_0312.jpg

My son took the picture and he's only 4!

I am having the engine oil changed, diff/gearbox oil changed, air filter, oil filter and power steering radiator changed & PS fluid to go in that, aircon re gas (All preventative/new owner new oil) & of course the famous SM X-Pipe!

My initial thought on driving a GS:

1) Its low (we drive an XC90!)
2) Its not very loud (that problem will soon be rectified)
3) Changedowns are jerky like throw you around (what am I doing wrong?)
4) My wife thinks sports mode is uncomfortable and likes normal mode (hahaha)
5) Why does reversing seem a big deal? (I think its just me making an issue!)
6) The interior is very good quality and comfy
8) My son LOVES it and gets funny about not going in it
9) I LOVE it and get funny about not going in it
10) The alarm is rubbish (randomly going off - have to turn off interior sensors - will have to do pillar thing soon)

All in all a happy camper so far!

Sounds about right.

Re point 10, alarm goes off and will have to do the pillar thing.
Do tell, I have had a driver door actuator? replaced to solve the alarm problem.
My first fix was to remove the siren in the boot, that's how frustrating it was.
Every now and then I come back to the car and the alarm has triggered.
What is the interior sensor fix?

There is a thread here about removing a pillar trim and wrapping tape around sensors to make them less sensitive (stops shaking I suppose)

After a lot of embarrassing moments, I also learned that any Bluetooth enabled software such as an iPhone, iPad or tablet would set off the alarm within a minute or two. Just need to remember to take your phone with you every time you stop at services etc or return to your activated car alarm every time.

Got a flat tyre today somewhere in-between my house and the garage changing the oils... ouch thats going to be a pricey rear tyre. Lucky I didn't mash the alloy up!

You need more than the X pipe, speak to BennyD and send him your rear boxes for modification (circa £200) and a set of decats (circa £600) then you will be a member of the EEC (Epic Exhaust Club)

All for under a grand!

I will! I've hardly driven the car yet as I'm awaiting a part from USA which arrives tomorrow. That should get me back on the road. I'm going to take it on holiday and get back boxes done after!

My alarm does tend to go off easily too when out and about, but as it's okay when parked in the garage it's okay.
Jerky downshifts throw you around? Engine should rev match and be smooth, no driver intervention just pull the paddle shift. When in sport mode a more pronounced engine blip (gorgeous with modified exhaust!) but still smooth shift no jerks or bangs.

Maybe throw you around was exaggeration but you do feel a bit of movement. I think the problem is I approach say roundabouts in 6th and have to get down to 1st sometimes pretty quickly, so thats probably why its jerky, engine braking. I think I just need to forward plan a bit... Its not jerky when changing down one gear or so, only when lots of changes quickly. Maybe I just let the car change down itself?

That sounds okay, always better to change down yourself, yes you can skip a couple of gears by quickly pulling the paddle but if you are travelling quickly and braking hard, skipping a few or three gears is really going to throw up the revs and introduce hard engine breaking! You are obviously giving her a good workout...Good man!

Try aiming for second. Although I find it'll go happily around most in 3rd.

Block shift to 3rd, then second if required

Cambiocorsa is great really. I love the complete control of gear selection at the tip of your fingers!
