A fully specced 335D X-drive with a chip.
Thanks, Benny. Mrs C has vetoed a BMW on the drive. I'm mostly fine with this

Drive to Luton Airport Parkway and go from there.
I think certainly below 10.
I think short list right now is
XF
CLS320
C Class
E Class (Know nothing about the range or engines of either of them)
Some kind of Audi (maybe A5 but I know nothing about the range / engines. Just know I loved the A8 we had)
Mrs C has vetoed a BMW
Something else.
It's all simple

Can you just read that back to yourself.....

What engine, chap? I had the V6 3.2 before my 4200. Perhaps we should PM

Not sure I get the logic in recommending a £50k+ car that does mid 20s mpg to C... if he’s trying to save for a future Strad- there’s no point - unless you want us to see a picture of your (gorgeous) RRI am the wrong man for this thread. For years my motorway muncher has been the supercharged Rangie. Super comfy and safe, with great visibility. Not so hot on the mpg however.
But my new Hybrid Rangie arrived on a Thursday and I took it to Oxford and back yesterday. It averaged 36mpg, so pretty much exactly double what I averaged in the old one. Happy days.
And look like a taxi driver on his way to Heathrow ;-) haha

For sub 10k you can get an E350 AMG Sport, W212 engine (more refined than the 211 and a bit more power), all the toys and will do 50 mpg on a run.
I sold mine (at 92k miles, fsh ) for 9 grand.
They don't go wrong, and are brilliant for motorways.
I too needed to buy a mile cruncher here in France and decided as an Englishman I'm having a Jag.
Got the XF 3.0 premium luxury with added extras 2010 done 220,000 kilometers one owner all the paper work and fully serviced ready to go with warranty and a new 2 year test here not as cheap as the UK as a lot less for sale.
Drives lovely the interior is as good as any other and they go and give good mpg.
Richard Grace pointed me to his father in laws one for a bargain price but I had to have LHD.
It’s not as mad as you think. 40 mins drive and 80 mins on the train. Compared to 3 hours on the A1.
I know which one I could do!
Does the job though.
Don’t all taxi drivers these day use Toyota Prius’s now?
Worth checking Chris.I wonder if that's still available!

Very nice Ewan. How does the hybrid drive?
I’ve just picked up this TDV8 in blue on the advice of my spinal surgeon. Just had two more lumbar discs decompressed yesterday - more than a little sore at the moment. Two weeks or so before I can drive again

Worth checking Chris.
If it wasn't that I need LHD and French registered I would have been on it.
All cars have their issues and I remember Dean pointing out why he bought his Merc with a few miles on it as the lower miles more expensive ones are waiting for the issues to happen and the higher miles ones dealt with.
Same with Maseratis really.
Has he found you a Porsche in Blue....lolGone, but per his reputation, Dicky has been very helpful
