Haven’t read all of this, 600 miles a week, 2007 BMW E92 320d.
Bought on 93k now on 249k and running sweet.

If / when it goes pop I’ll probably get another E92. Although I can’t see why it won’t do another 100-200k.

Mines an m sport so comfy seats. If I were you find £3-4K and buy a high miler and run it till the doors fall off !

This? The IT Contractor of 90/00's contractor-mobile, 820, 825, 827, Sterling, £100 with a 12 month ticket, don't bother re-MOT'ing it, get another!

I had a pairing for a while maybe 20 years ago of a Rover 827i Sterling and a Honda Civic CRX VTEC Transtop import. They did both jobs asked.very well at the time. Cracking engine that little 1.6 VTEC.

Having owned many cars like most of us Chris and quite a few German brands over the years looking at them now to me are bland inside and all are wanna be AMG or M Power so the Jag did it for me.
I want it for mile munching for my extra marital excitement that will be found once settled.

I'd agree on the Jag. Loved my XJ. Lovely place to be to munch miles. I fell out of love with the short power band and boom bust delivery of most modern TT diesel's. However aside the powerplant was spot on as was ZF box.

The XJ earlier and older are a lot bigger cars but I agree what nice places to be on a long journey next to a Maserati of course.

No worries. I had a 2011 3.0 V6 TT Diesel 275bhp. Gave average of a circa 40mpg cost nothing in repairs in just over 3 years and 2 services at main dealers at 199 and 299 that they collected and delivered.

I bought 3 years old ex Jaguar lease one owner for 24k. Sold for just over half that after 3 years. Best to buy one 5 years old I reckon as it has lost most of its shorts by then. However was work pool vehicle at the time so cost effective enough.

These must be buttons now.

Having had my 3.0 Diesel for less than 24 hours I'm very impressed for its miles and 8 years old.
Low down grunt is impressive driving around Paris at night.
Looking forwards to some open roads today.

Why is LPG a waste of time?
Surely not if you do the miles and the vehicle you wish to do those miles is a bit thirsty.
Never had one myself, but my sister had a Jeep Cherokee for years ran on gas, and also a good friend V8 Rangie also. Both total converts on the merits of LPG.

The chat on LPG reminds me of the 2007 Grand Cherokee Overland I had. It was the 5.7L V8 Hemi version, picked it up at just 10 months old with 3k miles for high £teens (list circa £40k if I remember) and had the Manningtree 4x4 guys put a LPG system in.
Great car, correction not a great car, a great engine! The LPG worked out economical enough but the 180 mile range got tedious and since it was the family wagon the boss said it had to go. Wish I had kept it for a run around.

That is a bit of a problem with my M140i, big engine, small car, lots of fun, but small tank.
Just over 11 gallons full, i'm filling up after 300 miles, where as previously it would have been after 500 miles in my previous 320d.
The M140i long term average is 34mpg over the last 15K, 40 on a long motorway run, so isn't bad at all for 340BHP but it does make the economy of the 4200 look rather sick in comparison!
