Not reading the charts, or no contact with a tower with radar to warn you, if in doubt....climb..!!

I see so basically they had a nice flight through "low cloud" and hit a mountain side. Cool Story Bro :D

I suspect 'cool' was not one of concepts used to describe the event, but everyone has a different view especially when they are mates

And the loudest, you should have heard them taking from Heathrow in the 70's, deafening!

Dave
Built in a shed at Weybridge that was too low so the T Tail had to come off to get it outside.
Seats facing backwards, very comfy mind you.
Auntie Liz paid a lot of fuel bills when BA got rid and donated them with that other gas guzzler the Tristar to Crab Air,
I always asked to sit "with the driver" lovely view flying over London into Brize.
Why did they use the least economical plane as a tanker?

Myself and my young daughter at the time were invited on to the flight deck, many years ago of course, it was a pleasant experience watching clouds whizz by..!!

Long story, but I had the pleasure of playing in a Hawk last summer. Did some so called 'poor mans low level flying' i.e. flying upside down along the top of the clouds........absolutely awesome experience.....took controls for a bit and did a few loops, barrel rolls etc...pulled lots of G and didn't vomit.......an achievement.:numberone:

Benny, is that video of your car in its current state of exhaust mods (i.e. modified GS boxes etc.)?

Yes it is Luke. The whole current state is; Larini sports cats, unsilenced X-ppe and modified GS boxes. Too loud for some (I know), not loud enough for others but a nice compromise for me.

Would you say the x-pipe has the single most effect on sound? if you swapped this section only back to factory would the sound be severely blunted, although still improved over stock?

I ask as I have changed the secondary cats section and rear boxes, which makes a nice improvement. But yours sounds brutal so am thinking this is most likely down to the x-pipe. I know you and Matt believe it takes changing 2 sections to really make a difference.

I swapped my x-pipe last week from stock to unsilenced - it adds a rawness to the sound, and more volume. At the moment I think it's a bit raspy, and there's something I don't like at 2000 revs. Not sure if it's the fitting or just what this system produces. I did a video last night, I'll edit it down from 35 minutes to just the highlights and post it later.

I think that the Xpipe makes it sound tinny. Simon's with the work done on the secondary still sounds rorty and not metallic or raspy.

When I've done my mods I will have non-cat manifolds, Larini sports cats (1 each side) a Larini h-pipe and Larini valved rear boxes. It will be interesting to discover the difference between a h-pipe and a x-pipe. I'm hoping mine will be quieter than Benny's!

If you get the Larini Valved Rear Boxes, you can always tone down the noise when you need to, sound is epic..!!

I've changed all 3 sections on mine and the sound is, er, refreshing but I wouldn't say the x-pipe made the biggest difference. If I had to, I would say the sports cats are the bedrock of a loud system, but you have to change another part to bring out the volume. (200 cell) Cats and straight through back boxes make for a good sounding system and then changing the X-pipe brings out the fourth horseman of the apocalypse.

Alas, this, an X-pipe in a standard 4200 system, is one of the combinations I haven't tested. I don't know how the back boxes behave because I took mine off as soon as I got it. However, I would have though you will always get a bit of a rasp somewhere in the rev range because of the high gas flow through a relatively narrow pipe.
