Truly delighted for you Bal. A lot of work, cost and effort by all concerned, but I can't think of a more worthy recipient. Looking forward to seeing her, hopefully in the not too distant future............

Yep,

Smile like a cheshire cat on the drive back home. As for meeting up, no worries well up for it. But it may have to be a weekend meeting somewhere that's convenient for everyone due to work commitments during the week.

Though I couldn't take her out Sunday as I had to get an urgent job out. Next weekend I will take her out for a few gentle short journeys around home, visit a few folks. Then I think a few more motorway/ A road journeys to build up the revs more.

Will keep you guys posted.

A small update for those that weren't at the recent midlands meet. Have managed to rack up 420 miles as of today. Have been taking it easy but she's opening up now.

A couple of small leaks need attention as does the clutch adjustment, sometimes a little difficult engaging reverse. By tomorrow I will have reached my target miles just shy of 500, which should then make up to the total on the drive back to Migliore. Hopefully take her back the weekend after next (classic car show next weekend so can't make it)

Once serviced, I'll haev to put her away for winter before the salt spreading begins.

Hi Andrew,

Would have been good to meet up but I've got tickets for Saturday (taking my lad to the Top gear show). Maybe next time we can plan it a little better.

Andy, the car is nice but not in A1 condition body wise. But for now she'll suffice until the next major round of work. I may even follow Robin and hand into Prestige at some stage. All these jobs take time and planning, but most importantly saving up the cash.

I've now done around 477 miles so that's it with the 20 miles to the garage it's as near as 500. As I have some oil leaks from two cam covers it's probably better to get her back and attended to. Must say though, she's opening up some now since we met at Robin's place a few weeks back.

Just a little update as I've been really busy so not been active on here for a while.

Picked up car today after a little fettling at Migliore.

Oil service all done,l cam cover gaskets replaced. Steering rack adjusted it no longer self centres to the right. Carbs re-tuned and idle speed dropped to around 800rpm.

Drove the 30 miles back home like a dream. Gonna try to keep using her until the salt comes down. Sounds sweet..........

Must give the 4200 a little attention, been stuck on drive for a couple of weeks now. It's a bit like birds, never enough time for all of them (must be dreaming again lol, soz about that)....

Still have plans to go to France next year for the Khamsin 40th anniversary meeting. Will be awesome to get together with hopefully at least 40 of these babies.

Yeah guys, choices choices.....

looks like I got her back in time, gone well cold.... If it carries on like this chances of using her will be limited.

Sorry been a little quiet on the forum of late, hope you all had a nice time over the break and a happy new year to you all.

Had the K out for a quick blast as I hadn't had the time to fire her up since she last came back from Migliore.

Good job I checked umder the bonnet whilst she was warming up, a couple of the jubilee clips on the fuel rail were leaking, with one constantly dripping. Managed to trim a little off the main feed line to get a better seal and nip up the other two joints. Was very cold out there and didn't feel all the cuts until my hands warmed up.

Still it was nice to get her on the road, put £50 worth of fuel in her and go for a short blast. Amazing how the engine has loosened up since I first had her back, idle is much more smooth. Though with 70 profile tyres and damp roads I did take it carefully.

Mind you if it stays mild and no more salt is put down I may be able to get a little more use.

Been my sentiments exactly Bal, cleaned the 4200 nicely and went for a drive in lovely sunshine , was a bit fresh tho towards the end , main thing as you say no salt or gritting as yet , luckily as you caught it always worth that warm up session with the bonnet open after she'sbeen standing a while

regards loz

Cheers Paco,

She's no minter, but all these things take time. Just itching for the roads to clear up so I can continue the running in before making the leap to go to France.

Well I embarked on the journey to the K 40 event in Dijon today.
We have made it to our overnight stop in St Omer in good time. Car has so far behaved herself, earlier calcs showed 16mpg, however I expect that to have dropped as air-con came on later. Will calculate again in the morning when we fill up, but all dependant on the odometer being accurate etc.

Will grab photos tomorrow along the way. I'll keep you guys updated on the event.
