If the hood doesn't work properly it can cost hundreds, even thousands to put right. It might be a cheap fix but personally, I wouldn't risk it especially with a sketchy service history. They have obviously tried to fix the hood but, according to Matt, it still doesnt work reliably so if it was a cheap fix, it would be fixed by now. If you got it for £6-7k it might be worth a punt as, if you couldnt get it running right you might get your money back by breaking it.

That about sums it up. Its got no history except the current MOT and Logbook, thats all you get.

Would it not be worth asking a number of dealers if they've got service history, night be able to find out about the car and its servicing

Yes the 3200 was ok but again tatty up close. There was a big patch of lacquer that had flaked off the front wing, you would have thought they would have fixed that before sale. Where else has money been saved?

The Syder was sold in the September auction for £9k plus buyers premium on behalf of a finanace company who had repossed it 4 years earlier. At that time I was interested and went to view the car and found the following , The car would not start supposed problem with the steering lock micro switch ( now fixed?) The hood would not lower now fixed ? it also need a new hood as it was worn with a couple of tears in it, It needed new tyres and a wheel refurb, the seats were in poor condition, the drivers door rubber seal was ripped, the passengers window did not lower although it did drop to open the door, there numerous scratched in the paintwork, and some parking dents, the gearbox was not working supposedly a £1k Fix, according a garage that had looked at the car. The mileage seemed genuine as the front Michelin tyres were of year 2022 indicating they were original and the rears 2006 indicating they had been changed. Perhaps worth a punt at £6k it is an auction afteral. But as the person who brought it before is now selling, it indicates more is wrong than can be seen. Such a shame, how could someone treat a car so badly they should be shot.

Not a chance IMO Dem. The hood alone could cost hundreds if not thousands to fix and replace, the gearbox £1k, a lot more if the F1 pump is bust, front tyres, brakes, dents, interior and wheel refurb, window regulator and the icing on the cake, Italian electrics that haven't been worked properly for years. This is a money pit of biblical proportions. And if you get it running properly it will be hard as AIDS to get shut of because it has no history. Spend more and get a decent example. Parts only I'm afraid.

Have to agree.
It's just so sad that so many modern Maserati's of such a young age fall to such low levels of disrepair.

If there is anything to be gained from these sad examples it is that true enthusiasts will continue to have second hand parts available and the rarity of the models will continue to increase as "casual" owners discover they have bitten off well more than they can chew with so called cheap Maserati's
