Power roofs can be a ball ache to fix, but somtimes quite easy.

I have had a few soft tops in my time and helped others with their problems. I sorted out a friends Volvo C70 last year by putting the roof up and down 2 times with the allen keys rather than the motors and adjusting the pinch points on the seals. It had not worked all year but is fine since.

I also helped to re fit a golf roof frame and doors using a you-tube video [in german] which took two days and lots of tea.

However all of these were assisted using on-line support which sadly is no where to be found on the 4200/GS Spyder...would love the challange if anyone does go for this.

The Syder was sold in the September auction for £9k plus buyers premium on behalf of a finanace company who had repossed it 4 years earlier. At that time I was interested and went to view the car and found the following , The car would not start supposed problem with the steering lock micro switch ( now fixed?) The hood would not lower now fixed ? it also need a new hood as it was worn with a couple of tears in it, It needed new tyres and a wheel refurb, the seats were in poor condition, the drivers door rubber seal was ripped, the passengers window did not lower although it did drop to open the door, there numerous scratched in the paintwork, and some parking dents, the gearbox was not working supposedly a £1k Fix, according a garage that had looked at the car. The mileage seemed genuine as the front Michelin tyres were of year 2022 indicating they were original and the rears 2006 indicating they had been changed. Perhaps worth a punt at £6k it is an auction afteral. But as the person who brought it before is now selling, it indicates more is wrong than can be seen. Such a shame, how could someone treat a car so badly they should be shot.

Well the Auction at Brooklands should be fun.

So will some garage take it hoping for a few quick £££?
Some innocent ill informed member of the public hoping for a bargain?
Eurospares who know already how much the parts are worth?

We wait an see...

Still if it goes for a song and the buyer has lots of time and knows his Maserati's

Cars in auctions have a strange habit of doing much more than they are worth especially needing work.

There is a 10% buyers premium on top that you have to take into account. I recon it will go over priced at around £10,500 including the premium.

Oh forgot to say about the history. The owner is inside, he hid the car from the repro company. It sold in Auction for 9,500 all in last month but the purchaser bounced his funds after he had trailered the car away. It was then tracked down and as a result Brooklands now own the car and have already pumped a couple if grand into it and its still a dog. A warning there I feel. I also spoke to the indie that did the work for Brooklands and he said it had a lot of problems but did drive surprisingly well,

What a shame, I was tempted by this also but it sounds like its bordering on whether or not it's financially worth fixing. If someone had the time it could become a nice car and I think it deserves it.

Nearer £10,350 with premium. All I can say is, good luck to the purchaser.

Yep, good luck to him, if he spends more than £3.5k on it to get it up to scratch, then he paid too much.

Sadly Andy I fear with a trader its likely to be boddged further and sold on again at a higher cost to some poor sap.
