Thanks for posting Catman. Shame they don't have pictures in the pack.

I was hoping for engine/gearbox changes as well but the lack of that and the low volumes tells us that this is an interim fix. I guess they have found they can't sell enough 4Cs to keep the production staff busy. I would have thought they would need to keep it going next year as well given the lack of insight into a replacement. Maybe another special edition in a year's time?

I wonder what they will do for Europe and ROW?

PS Power is unchanged at 460PS which is 454bhp.

Maserati will no longer be in the special supercar league :-( - Golfs and Fords now have the performance of the old Ferrari F430's.

Nah. People would complain that it has turbos and comment on the laaaaggggg.

I've driven a QP GTS, there is no laaaggg to speak of. I'd love to see a Granturismo with that engine stuffed in. It's 530bhp in QP form so surely could easily be 570bhp with a remap (not that I know anything about remaps....). It produces 610bhp in the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso where the main difference is the Ferrari flat plane crank vs. Maserati using crossplane. I suspect it's also some way lighter than the current 4.7 v8 which would help a lot with the front end dynamics.

The answer is right there in front of them but some ******* branding **** is standing in the way of them doing what is right.

If they put that engine in and it ends up 250kg lighter than the current car, and less than 100k, I will order one. And I know there would be others.

Could a Strad be dragged up to 550 brake without having a supercharger strapped to it? I'm inclined to agree with Matt - Maserati has at its disposal a perfectly good engine to drop in and which would be stunning.

It would indeed but to honest, the power in the Stradale is enough for me. Off the mark it's quick but mid range acceleration is absolutely brutal. Mine has a BMC air filter and a Larini X pipe but is otherwise stock and I don't intend to do anything else to it, it is just fine as it is for me

Saw a Blu Oceana one like mine today.

Shocking.

It was f#$/* beautiful.

Don't care about the model being 10 years old and FCA are going to stretch the GTourismo production.

To me they're aesthetically the best

Seeing as the current engine is Ferrari based it would be easy to up the power...Just as Ferrari for a more powerful engine...After all they have a few. But yes dropping the QP V8 in there would help.....

I'm with Stuart. It's a GT car, even in Stradale form, and it has enough power for its intended purpose. If you want supercar performance, buy a supercar. I also think it remains aesthetically one of the best looking coupes on the road, even at 10 years old. So with some technology improvements to bring that side up to date, I think it's still got legs.

And, in fact, I'd rather then see Maserati bring out a more compact sporty car, along Alfieri lines, and leave the GT replacement for a few more years, keeping the current car as a low volume luxury halo GT car. Nobody else really produces a car in that segment so it would retain its uniqueness as full four seater NA V8 GT coupe.

The problem is that the Alfa QV has moved the bar and for half the price new.

Think I need to drive a Strad to see if it is that much different from the GTS.

How so? Last time I looked it has 4 doors and isn't even the prettiest saloon car on the road by a long way. How has that moved the bar for the GTS?

I don't get it. Why do some of you guys keep comparing cars that are not comparable..........just because they fall into a wide band of cars that are perceived as pretty fast? GTS to Alfa QV, Levante to GTS. It's bizarre.

If you want a fast saloon there are a number available at different price points and with different characteristics. Likewise fast sports/supercars.

But, there is only one true 4 seater luxury v8 sports GT, and some of you guys buy them and then complain because they aren't something else. If you want something else it's simple.......buy something else.

Personally I'm very glad we will continue to be able to buy a NA V8 4 seater luxury GT for a few more years.

I don't agree that anyone on here complains because our cars aren't something else. There's a general disappointment that Maserati is failing to uphold its sporting heritage and hasn't updated the GT models in any meaningful way in 10 years. I suspect a number of people on here would have bought a newer model if a better newer model existed. The fact is, it doesn't, which is why we keep the cars we have. We often discuss what we would buy instead, and the general conclusion is that there is no obvious alternative which is anything like as amazing. So, far from complaining, we remain in a state of bewilderment that through sheer dumb luck we seem to own one of the best cars ever made.

Indeed. No one can identify a sensible move on from the GT, but then it's 'The QV has moved the game on'

I'm with you, chap. I'll be very happy if I can afford one of the updated models in years to come.

They are comparable as they come from the same stable no matter how hard you squint plus the engines are from the same manufacturer. I agree with the looks and the price difference can be found in the cabin.

When a car like the GT/S has such a long production window it's too expensive to radically change the engineering so it's left with instead concentration in trim and facelift revisions.

Alfa do this and so do Maserati.

Focusing on the GT replacement, do we collectively feel the diesel will be offered or not and do we feel it will be a V6,8 or both?

Hopefully the world will have moved away from DERV by the time the Alfi is ready for production.

I don't think that the GT replacement will be offered with a diesel. This is more to do with the political landscape moving against diesel than anything else.

Engines depends on whether the Alfieri comes first. If it does then I'd see the GT being V8 on launch with a V8 + electric to follow. If it comes first then possibly a V6 GT and a V8 GTS.

Then again I was expecting/hoping that the QP VI V8 would make it into the 2018 refresh so this is probably all b*ll**ks.

No, I don't think it will be a diesel and will be horrified if it is. And They always offered two engine options in the GT, albeit both V8, so I think there will be a choice again

It's a saloon though so I would not buy it for that reason.

Agree with RWC re keeping the GT going and rushing though the Alfieri.
