I don’t understand, its £250 for a small electric convection oven. You’d have to use it an awful lot to save £250 compared with the slightly larger convection oven that most people already have.

How many things do you have in your life that cost considerably more than £250, don't save you a penny and you don't use them regularly if at all

We use this every day, it's at temperature in 30-90s

Just been around the house and changed the batteries in all of the Honeywell Evohome 1 TRV's and water tank controller; 24AA batteries and still have 4 more to do! Need another box of batteries. I have to say this is the first time I've changed batteries, they have all done 2-years. I'm mightily impressed with the whole setup really, one TRV failure after it got drowned by a very wet dog towel last year after their post-shoot shower, it got hung up and drenched it! Savings on the heating bill have been very noticeable when you can micro control every radiator.

Looks like a bit of a situation going on here in France making things difficult again.
Workers not happy that Total Energy paid out massive bonuses so refinery's and storage depots are blockaded.
Fuel prices have jumped up considerably.
1200 liters of heating oil will cost me over €2,000 at the minute so will be burning plenty of wood this winter.
I wonder if the yellow vests will return ?

Martin Lewis has made a fortune out of stating the obvious

Today's gem on GMTV , if you have solar panels use them during the day
I’m hoping to get the final figures in for the year at next statement. I’m certain it will look like we produce very close to what we use. However we owe over and above as what we pay for is more than double what we get paid. Trying to determine if a battery is cost effective upgrade so we use more and export less and therefore less import from grid.

Embarrasing........................
A distant relative in a great big house could not understand why her bills were so high £600 or so.
She has a smart meter which was always in the red
I stayed overnight recently and remarked on how hot the water was for showers etc.
She kept banging on so we turned everything off in the house and garage - and I mean everything yet the the meter was still in the red searched the 3 floors and found a cupboard with an immersion heater in that was on and probably had been for years! This was in addition to the combi boiler. Maybe a child switched it by accident who knows.. The meter is now in the green zone and it is her face that is red.
More money than sense:mad:

Didn’t think you got a hot water tank with a combi boiler?

I'll ask my French brother in law, he was a yellow vest protestor to the embarrassment to his family. He's also one to work a bit and then have 2 years government paid redundancy, then work a bit...repeat.

Not so clear cut now Octopus are paying 15p a unit for export.
We often export twice as much than we import without a battery, so one balances the other, or makes the battery payback not as short as it was.

What’s with the derision and laughing at Martin Lewis? I’d wager a good majority of the population aren’t gurus and geniuses on everyday financial matters. Many have benefited from him stating the ‘obvious’ to people, me included.

I am curious to ask all those laughing at his ‘obvious’ advice, what’s behind the derision if it’s not hurting you and helping others?

Based on his ‘advice’ in April for homeowners to go on a variable contract rather than fixing I’d say his advice was shocking. Especially when those in the market knew energy prices were going to rise much further.

If people had fixed. They would be paying less than the government cap.
