Energy crisis

Based on his ‘advice’ in April for homeowners to go on a variable contract rather than fixing I’d say his advice was shocking. Especially when those in the market knew energy prices were going to rise much further.

If people had fixed. They would be paying less than the government cap.
Thanks for the reply @GeoffCapes That was certainly a blunder but I also noted he corrected himself later in April (https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/cost-of-living/martin-lewis-changes-advice-fixing-7010434.amp).

I’m not sure how many instances of mis-advice he has given though, whether he has a questionable track record. It doesn’t really explain why there’s sometimes a bit of a pile on with him. Overall his heart seems to be in the right place.

As long as his business profits…..

Domestic would have. Business is a bit different.
We fixed one of our schools at the time for 28p (something like that) and said 2 years minimum is the way to go.
At the time they weren’t so sure. But we’ve been proved right.
We fixed the gas bills of most of our clients for a minimum 3 years during the pandemic (even when they weren’t due for a year or two.
Until the end of 2024 one of our clients is only paying 2.2p.

It’s all about knowing your market.

Martin Lewis doesn’t know how the energy markets work. He’s proved that time and time again.

Jeremy Hunt hasn't done home owners any favours I see.

Your bills are only fixed until April.

But I guess balancing the books had to start somewhere. Surely Truss's position is now completely untenable?

Problems will continue until ministers are appointed on the basis of true ability and commitment to the country rather than friendship, party loyalty, or payback, and I can't see that happening anytime soon.

Gas will become a lot cheaper when Putain gets a bullet.
I watched Jezza's speak and he seems a lot better than kwazi but I suppose Dianne Abbott could do a better job (ok maybe not!).

Anyway, I'm feeling smug at my energy choices last year. I doubt I'll need to pay a penny through winter with the government's contributions coming in. So :f2:

Yeah but it’s not all bad news.

Gentle reminder, ladeez and genulmen: this is a thread about energy crisis / prices, not for a free-for-all whiney little bitches politics thread. There's another thread entirely devoted to the venting of political opinions and grievances.
