Thanks for the reply @GeoffCapes That was certainly a blunder but I also noted he corrected himself later in April (https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/cost-of-living/martin-lewis-changes-advice-fixing-7010434.amp).Based on his ‘advice’ in April for homeowners to go on a variable contract rather than fixing I’d say his advice was shocking. Especially when those in the market knew energy prices were going to rise much further.
If people had fixed. They would be paying less than the government cap.
I’m not sure how many instances of mis-advice he has given though, whether he has a questionable track record. It doesn’t really explain why there’s sometimes a bit of a pile on with him. Overall his heart seems to be in the right place.
