Just watched a report of another school shooting, heavily armed teenage girl this time, 3 children, 3 adults plus the shooter dead
Nashville

This is almost a daily occurrence in the US

It is. And it sucks.
Just found out the shooter was a 28 year old woman

Loads of posts on social media about arming teachers, I think if they did that they'd lose a lot of good teachers

Also who'd want the security man job, you're definitly getting the first bullet

Read a report, via Ground News, that listed all of the recent shootings from Columbine, Sandy Hook and many many others. No doubt the NRA will come out with a statement saying that the problem is the schools...clearly they are a Terrorist Organisation.

The sad truth of the number of mass shooting in the US is included in the above link.

I don’t think I have commented on this one but I must say the US do seem to have a police force that you can call and they show up instantly even if it is a low crime domestic or a guy sat in a truck outside your house.

In the UK they don’t even turn up for shoplifters now, it’s ****

Of course, folks here can get shot by the cops just by calling for help...

Schools are Responsibility Sponges. The stuff no one wants to or is able to deal with gets put on them. Make it harder to get guns? No, just give guns to teachers...

15 years ago my ebay got hacked at 1am, guy spent £1000, luckily I was up so changed the passwords

Address had been changed to one in florida so I emailed the local police then went to bed

Next morning a reply from a detective with a case number asking for more details

By the afternoon they'd been round to the address which was a drop box and closed it down

Couldn't take it any further as the scammer was in the far east

Can you imagine emailing the British police and getting anything more than an automated acknowledgement they'd received it

That's actually really impressive.

I don't have the details but suspect the US invests far more in its police force(s) that the UK, comparatively. Thing is, I'd far rather be tried in the UK than in the US, including if I was totally innocent.

How to fix a gun problem?

More guns...
There is no fixing the US gun problem

They can't even let people open carry like the wild west, shooter enters a building, good guy shoots them dead, next good guy sees a the good guy shooting someone dead so thinks they're the bad guy and on and on.

There does appear to be a self delusory aspect as to how good the average 'good guy with a gun' would be in a real situation. Especially when compared with data from real 'good guys with guns' in real situations...

There's plenty of fixing the US gun problem, it's just so embedded within US politics and money that those with the power to do anything about it, won't (much like UK immigration, homelessness, benefits fraud, media, democracy in general, tax dodging...) They are all used either as an excuse against "peoples rights" or an advert for why a certain political mindset is required.

I don't think there's any fixing it, it's not like it was here after Dunblane, hardly anyone owned a gun in the UK criminal or not so it wasn't that difficult a task

In the US there are millions of guns, maybe 10s of millions, if they take all the legal guns away there'd still be millions of illegal guns even if they were legal the day before the law changed, they just wouldn't hand them in

The assault weapons ban helped. It ended, and then...

So, yes, I believe there are paths forward. If the political will exists to follow them.

Hope is, sadly, in the hands of the students who have been victimized as they reach voting age.
