I have lost 5kgs but not from January but from September 1st!
I have cut out carbs for 3 weeks now and the only carb i have occasionally is sweet potato and that is for lunch not dinner.
Food is bland with just protein food like turkey or chicken but 5kg in 3 weeks with no cardio is good i think....also i have always lost weight with getting diet bang on then i start with weight lifting etc

Crikey Allan, that must make you virtually fat free, you were pretty lean to begin with! Good for you.

Dem, good work, keep it up. I’m getting back on track and am back into the high 19’s, let’s see what a week away with Benny does next week! Some sherbets may be involved...

I was going to resurrect this thread because I have been on a regime for almost a week now and have lost 5 lbs.
It is not a diet as such but I am counting my daily calories and according to Dr Michael Mosely (TV fame) it is called the 800 diet/plan where you aim to eat no more than 800 calories/day and in 2 weeks you lose weight.
Well I have been averaging about 1100 calories per day and have the weight loss.
I am the lightest now I have been since March at 13 st 5lb.
I still drink Beer but control all other intake/out take. This has been difficult for me to lose this weight and had given up resigning myself to 13st 9lb now I have fresh hope

800 is incredibly low Dave; I wouldn't recommend trying to sustain that for more than 8 weeks or you will be taking out muscle and other essential reserves. When you stop, ease out of it don't just stop or your body will just bounce and hold onto every bit you put in! At 800 your body will quickly go into starvation mode. I fully understand why you are as it is how I got the initial massive losses back in Jan/Feb.

Bloody well done, Dem et al. 800 is very low indeed. Deffo not great.

I managed to squeak in to 13st 9 this morning which (from some kind of memory) is about 2 lbs over where I wanted to be but not enough to worry about.
It's all about to go mad anyway (y)

According to Mosely you do the 800 thing for 2 weeks for rapid weight loss (I need to get into a wedding suite in October) then go on a 5:2 regime where for 5 days you eat normally whatever that is and two days is back to 800.
Thanks for the advice though I will watch my step
My main reason for doing this though is to get into the green NHS BMI band and lead a healthy life in my old age. I am petrified of Diabetes etc I have seen what it can do.

Well, been on the Mosely 800 diet for about 2 weeks now except I have averaged a calorie count of around 1200. There is no way I can do 800.
Anyway upshot is I have lost 5 lbs and am now around 13 st 4 lb.
I seem to be sticking at that and I want to be 13 st.
I intend to continue to calorie count and see how it goes
I am turning into a real bore nowadays!!

Nice one Andy.
I drink far less than I ever have do plenty of walking and when I work it's physical. Just has to be too much good food going in :)

Yep. Me.

Planning on kicking off the Weightloss and accountability thread 2020 soon. This year I have professional help.

Are you using a personal trainer ?
I'm happy to try different things.
I'm sure as we're getting older we need to eat and drink a lot less.
The problem is feeling hungry.
I drink more water but that just makes me pee more.

Given the quiet roads and the lovely scenery and home every night the hope is to get out on the bike more than last year (which turned out to be bugger all) even acquired a road bike to help cover some miles

Yep; I was planning on picking this up again before the New Year but I am 1 1/2 stone lighter than this time last year so not unhappy, aim is to blitz it again from the 1st and aim is for starting with 18 this time at least.

I am. Old friend. I lost my mojo because of the arthritis in my hip. Stopped me running (among other stuff) so I gave him the problem. Pretty much fixed now but my aerobic fitness is shot, and I'm not 100% sure I can run (yet) We'll be starting gently in Jan.
He's utterly brilliant at making the right muscles and techniques work and improve. Takes me for an hour and I'm wrecked.

So we've been discussing goals for this year. Probably 14 lbs off (although that's a bad metric, so I'll settle for getting into my 'skinny' jeans) and about 15% body fat.

I need a heart rate monitor for a start, so any recommendations?
