Sure, no probs.

There are 2 things that these cars don't like:
1. Lack of use
2. Batteries that are not at their optimum.

One sort of instigates the other....so theres your excuse to use it more.

Hahahaha, any excuse..!! Never had a battery issue, this ADR system does not seem to flatten battery (so far) and I do try to use it when the sun comes out, but I will try harder..!!

Guys I just took the car over to the Aston Martin place. They put the car on the computer.......gear shift potentiometers. Here is what they look like (I realize this is for the Quat. but this pic was better than the others I could find at the time). http://www.ebay.com/itm/DAP-M139-MASERATI-05-06-QUATTROPORTE-F1-TRANSMISSION-SHIFTING-ACTUATOR-MOTOR-4-/141307869407?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AMaserati&hash=item20e69af8df&vxp=mtr

It's the two black sensors to the right of the actuator with the wiring harnesses. I left the car with them for them to confirm that's what is wrong with the car, but it was the only codes thrown. What really persuaded me to leave the car there more than anything was though reverse doesn't work this clunk/grinding noise that the car first did when attempting reverse after he reset the computer. Fingers crossed it's only those Pots......They aren't really that expensive compared to what I was about to do. I will keep the thread updated....

As well Hodroyd very happy that your car is okay. I'm glad it's not something more serious for you. Sorry about the pessimism guess this car has been trying my patience.

I just towed the Mas. back, it was definitely the Pots I mentioned above for me. I am replacing them here shortly and then I'm going to take it in for a self learn. Let's see if that fixes it for me. I will keep you posted.

So another 10k miles out of it yet then....keep going.

I suspect what will happen is they will ent up removing the bell housing so you may as well replace it I suppose whilst your in there.

You might get lucky like Craig above and end up only costing you pennies.

Great news Craig if it works do be sure to let us know where we can get the parts, hopefully RS online.

Great news, and I hope it turns out to be not too costly, but with clutches it never feels cheap!

Hopefully that means BennyD's is home or home soon.

It is mate, and now fixed and running well apparently. Apart from a fried battery and a kn4ckered reg/rec in the alternator there was no other damage. No wiring issues or blown fuses so, overall, I guess I was pretty lucky. Looks like she will need several beastings before we set off for Modena, just to make sure she's fixed. ;)

Hodroyd, I don't know if that's the same one or not. I bought mine Brand New for $734 USD with shipping to my door. It's part number 980001158.

I picked up the car today after leaving it there with them and the Ferrari tech put the car in self learn, and thought he was about to call me back last night to pick it up when he took the car down the street and thought it was performing flawlessly. LOL he got stranded down the street about 5 min later and the reverse wasn't working so he had to call for help. Sorry it's not really funny but I'm glad someone was sharing my pain! Either way he kept clearing the codes and the only codes coming up on the Leonardo system was for the Pots. They explained that the only way to access the Potentiometers was to drop the exhaust and trans, and push it back so you can access the actuator. Sounded like a bit of work. I know they wanted me to let them do it but, I loaded the car up and took her home. This is what I had after two hours being under the car:

I admit it wasn't easy to access everything, but I didn't need to drop everything out of the way to do what I did. Sorry in advance guys I have a few photos but I just got under the car without even thinking of taking a bunch of photos. I can when I install it. Just wanted to keep you guys updated.

Hopefully mine is the same issue but if Emblem need to gain access to the clutch whilst repairing I have instructed them to change it at the same time. no point having two labour bills.

Craig,
I did a search for the part numbers of the original photo you posted and that's what came up. Not sure if the mounting plate is the same, it looks very similar, but if the actual pots demount from the plate itself we could do with the part numbers of those if showing. It would appear they could be the same item, each doing a different job..!!
The PN's showing on the other phote were: CA.0015118.D & 251-05-00581 / 00582 Magneti Morelli. I'm guessing the No's starting with 251 could be the car manufacturers number, but maybe not..!!

Craig, when you get a mo, can you do a how to, to replace the pots, pics would be great too if you have any?

It might also be worth seeing if the pots can be found so will cost a few quid instead for a thousand. If you have no joy, can you post it to me and Ill get them made.

Email me for my address: admin@sportsmaserati.com

Conaero no problem will do. I should have the new ones in soon, and will take a bunch of photos of where it's at under the car when I install them. I can take closer photos of the old ones as well. It would be nice if we found they have an Alfa equivalent and could be bought for cheaper alternatively I'm sure someone could restore the old ones.
