Once we know what the fault is we will decide on the best repair, as my clutch has done 50k I have no issue replacing it if we need to open it up but I am nervous of moving to a PP that might have weak tangs.

I really appreciate the response, and yes that is exactly what mine is doing. I tried to select reverse again about an hour ago and it will not go into it now. All the symptoms are identical to yours. The car only has about 26,000 miles. I don't want to put a PP in the car that is just going to collapse again either. I want something that will out last most of the life of the car if I can do it. Have you come across something better?

Not found anything yet, will talk to the experts once we confirm the fault and decide what we are going to replace.

Craig this is my issue too...putting in a PP that could fail at any point and at £2k is discusting its so weak.

GTS don't fail so why do the cr@p Valeo ones do then?

Geoff your correct if you open the used one in a new tab and switch between the two the base of the tangs as they mount to the PP is slightly different and they look slightly bent in the center. In sum it looks more durable. So are we saying the new one in the ebay listing is the one we want? Is this the one GETRDY used? Here for the guys following this post, the top one is the "new" one, and the bottom link is the "used" one both are Valeo and strangely enough they both have in the listing the same part number. So did they supersede the old clutch PP and keep the same part number? :

Yes I totally agree about SF clutch above. From the research I am doing it looks like people are listing the heavy duty tang PP with the same part number as the weaker tang one as "new old stock". Here's the thing to keep the expense down since I do not see a PP they sell by itself you have to buy the PP and clutch together. You cannot use the clutch disc because the nose on the clutch disc from the F430 needs to be machined down. So I am assuming you have to buy the PP/clutch together and maybe get the disc refurbed you have in the car like Conaero suggested. It seems these PP fail more often than the friction discs. You would still need to purchase the Throw-out bearing assembly, the CPS, and etc. after you amass the other parts.

Before I forget to ask this, I hear negative reviews about the Kevlar clutch disc over in the U.S. is that accurate or has anyone tried it?

Thank you Conaero. There's no way I'm going to rip this thing apart only to put the same garbage back into it. I will go with the PP above with the photos with the heavy duty tangs before I put another PP with these weak tangs in it. If we could talk SF down to just selling us the PP for a decent price without the friction disc or alternatively with the friction disc for the Mas. I would stick that in it to. I am possibly getting a 9000lb lift installed in my buddies garage just for this project. It's $2300 USD installed and he's going to split the cost with me. I still will be saving the money doing it myself.....over $1000 so if I have to put that into a Performance PP so be it. I'm rather upset because I did all the work to the car, was enjoying the top down in the sun/at night, and it basically slapped me in the face. I want this clutch to be race ready, so I can stomp the gas, spin circles and it smoke cigarettes for kicks and the PP not collapse! Quite a scene I know but couldn't think of anything else!:auto178:

Matt

What kind of lb pressure r u asking Orca to upgrade to

When we were considering the same path, the broad number being kicked around was not more than 25% of the original for fear of putting too much stress on the other components

Conaero, that's good, please keep me posted. I'm calling a few places over here as well. Do you know an estimate of what they are going to charge? Adam you do bring up an excellent point in this. I'm thinking that they are aware they cannot just stick anything in there or it will not release properly, as well as over stress the components. But I am interested to see what they say.

Geoff, I agree, I wouldn't be surprised at all. By keeping the same part number they avoid the fact people can see it was superseded.

Also guys check this listing out. I am trying to differentiate between the model/family names they are using. I will say this looks like a pretty good PP if we can use it, they also might have the listing wrong. But they have the coupe 4200 listed in the description. I emailed a dealership to check the compatibility but maybe you guys will know right off hand:
