It’s a big day here in West Wales. Opened the first bottle of wine from Hebron Vineyard, planted in the Preselis by my friends Paul and Jemma. It’s been breathing all morning.
fantastic - how does it taste?

It is really accomplished. Young and fruity, but by no means “thin” if you know what I mean. It’s smooth. It’s a relatively low 11 percent abv, which I think is a good thing. Without wishing to start a debate thread, some Old world wines are becoming increasingly alcoholic and many New World ones are off the scale. Absolutely no hint of sheep, leeks or daffodils thankfully.fantastic - how does it taste?

This is their first release in Wales, planted about 8 years ago. They had previously made delicious wines in Southern Spain. Having seen all the effort and love put into the project to date, I’m delighted it has worked out so well. Only downside is neither I nor they can afford to drink it all the time - I think it will retail at £20 a bottle.
Eurocave are often considered to make the best, but they charge quite a premium for them. http://www.eurocave.co.uk/wine-cabinets/rangesAnyone recommend a free standing wine cooler?
How many bottles do you want it to hold?Anyone recommend a free standing wine cooler?
Probably a dozen or so, have toyed with a mini fridge but may go bigger for bottled beer etc.....How many bottles do you want it to hold?

Thanks Jon, there is no way on earth I will ever need to cool 176 bottles of wine, that's 1 every 2 days for a year...…..lol.....Glad I asked - was going to recommend the 176 bottle, three temperature zones, one I bought last Christmas!
However, we used to own this one from Samsung, and it was fab - largely because it went down to 3Celsius, when lots of the others stop at either 5 or 6.... don’t know if it’s still available though...

That is utterly bonkers! Not wine, whisky and this is insane.
That’s more than $100,000 per shot. For context, a Porsche 911 Carrera starts at $97,000.
Macallan Bottle Sells For $1.9 Million, Breaks Whisky World Record…Again

Bullion Vault in the Uk started a whisky investment business a few years ago. That is utterly bonkers!
I have had a shot of whisky that cost $350 (also a Macallan) and it was very, very nice, but I wouldn’t say it was any better than 3 or 4 of the best bottles I’ve got at home... I also wouldn’t ever pay that kind of money myself, but was on a night out in Hong Kong with some very wealthy local business men, who were very keen to get their advisers drunk, so I obliged!
I wonder if the person who bought it did so as an investment? Apparently investing in rare whisky is becoming more and more popular as an asset class. I think it has its attractions, as if the market tanks, at least you can still drink your assets...

Decent returns and worth a look if it’s of interest
Investing in maturing Scotch whisky can achieve high returns.
Private investors can now access the maturing Scotch whiskey market. You can buy & sell single malt & grain whisky stored in the distiller's bonded warehouse.www.whiskyinvestdirect.com
