Happy Friday oenophiles... This is tonight’s experiment. If this is still good, the remaining bottles will be reserved for my / the wife’s 50th...

the art skills of a artless chimpanzee...
I empathise. Once upon a time I painstakingly painted a lion in the 2nd year.
The Art Master described it is as having "The quality of a Cornflake packet".
Seemingly it lacked depth

Still, wasn't all bad, Norbury had a fantastic dark blue Alfa GT Junior.

Wow - that’s proper wine!
But I hope you are 50 soon, otherwise you might miss it peaking.

P.S. ref your 50th. If you’re going to serve wine like this, can I come?

At that age one is very much a function of the other.
You hope for the best but sometimes:

Thanks for the generous offers of help - the wine was delicious, and as good as I remembered it being. Luckily I have a few more stashed away, and I’m 50 in just under 2 years, so I reckon it will keep.

Have to admit that drinking it made me and the wife a little teary, and brought back memories of my father in law. He was a great wine buff, and if he were still alive and with me last night, we would probably have needed to open another bottle!

I’ve never consumed wine anywhere near that price tag before and am struggling to grasp the concept of just how good it tastes.

Wattie - it’s not as different as you might think.

I probably don’t have a developed enough palate to be able to really tell the differences, but would describe this as silky smooth and layered, hardly any tannins left, gorgeous deep purple colour, really nice mouthfeel, and a lovely long finish.

I could never justify buying it, but having inherited it, it’s nice to taste and to experience...

P.s. I’m also a Vivino fan

A lovely inheritance!

Let’s be honest 99.9% of people couldn’t pull a Rothschild or any other highly expensive wine out of a blind line up..

Certainly is.
My dad put down a couple of Irn Brew bottles for me in the late 90’s. Unfortunately “sugar free” wasn’t invented then so I wont touch em.

How was the Ozzy Shiraz Jon.

It’s a big day here in West Wales. Opened the first bottle of wine from Hebron Vineyard, planted in the Preselis by my friends Paul and Jemma. It’s been breathing all morning.

Whilst our little Welsh boys and Grandad are a bit disappointed with this morning’s result, English born Mum and Dad are relieved we won’t be playing them next weekend.
