I went to a house once for work and the owner had a two wine rooms.
One slightly chilled for white wine, and the other at the 'perfect' (whatever that is) temperature for storing red, although I was unaware of there being a difference.
He must have have 5,000 bottles in each!

He also had a room which was kept humid for his cigars!

And wondered why his electricity bill was 5 grand a year! Lovely place though, just outside Tonbridge.
His driveway was longer than my road!

I assume the white was 'chilled' Interesting discussions to be had about drinking red at 'room temperature' Mostly because that was rather lower than it is now, even 50 years ago...

I know some of the wines that are being raved about and frankly I'd rather have ribena but that's just me

Clearly you didn’t drink enough of them then!

I agree, personal choice and a reminder that it’s very much individual taste -price doesn’t determine that it’s gonna be enjoyable.

Fun tho.

All wine for long term storage should be kept at 12.5 C ideally.
Cigars you say? Here is my walk-in humidor and smoking room:

That’s quite a room Bebs and congrats.
Not my thing as I get wheezy if the cat comes near, but apparently a good cigar is very much appreciated in certain circles.
Bill Clinton said that,
Gents I am off to bed, got my eldest daughter arriving tomorrow who I haven’t seen for 2 years and I’m pickin* her up from Bris- Vegas at 0600.
To all my SM friends,g’night.

I think you trump him on your smoking room! That's awesome.

Although he did have an impressive selection of brandies to accompany them. Which by the looks of things, so have you!

Thank you for the compliment Geoff, very kind. A lot of thought and planning went into our build, I’ve now got grey hair! :worried1:

Drink the wine, smoke the cigars, and swill the brandy to take your mind off it. I'm 99.99999% sure it will work!

I’ve just cracked into a case of 2002 Pol Roger I’ve had in bond since 2012 when it was released. It was a hard wait but my god it was worth it. It’s a beautiful wine, and I’m really sad I only bought the one case.

Aged champagne is vastly underrated.. far too much is drink young on release. Even NV champagne benefit hugely from ageing further after release. I can well imagine how nice that Pol Roger 02 is. Well done you!

But most Champagne is blended, so unless a vintage, there is little point in keeping it for years.
