To add.. They were in some weird African restaurant & you know for **** sure they weren’t keeping it cellared properly.
Assuming it was the genuine article. Wine fraud being a growth industry.
Pétrus agents Corney & Barrow keep extensive records of such wine.
They also ensure empty Pétrus bottles are destroyed, etc., etc.

One of Mrs Goodfellas staff came in looking a bit hung over and pee’d off to boot one morning..

Upon questioning the young girl, she had got coke’d & boozed up and gone half each on a bottle of Pétrus with a first date the night before. £4,000 for her half and she couldn’t even remember it..

That’s a brilliant story. I’ve found large receipts in my pocket before after a big night out in London, but never for Petrus :24186z4:

There’s a very entertaining documentary on this very subject - Sour Grapes. Well worth a watch for oenophiles and their friends and family.

Quite. A good watch. Vividly recall the Duboeuf scandal braking as it was a hot topic of conversation in Lyon.
The disdain was palpable with the consensus being "they got greedy". Despite their protestations of innocence.

Never touched a drop of their Pouilly-Fuissé again. Or Puśśy Foosy as my old lady used to say

Been outside all day filling a gabion outdoor fireplace/BBQ with basalt stone. What a sh1t job!
Its so wet and muddy that I can‘t use a small telehandler or digger there - so have been filling by hand in buckets. 2 1/2 tonnes today in just one cage.. only 6 more tonnes to go and I can then start on the opposite end of the house with an outdoor kitchen also made out of gabion cages.
Pulled these btls out earlier as I knew a drink would be needed. Missus cooking duck so a nice Monterrey Pinot to start followed by a btl of Remelluri, a Rioja Reserva that punches well above it’s weight and from the stunning 2007 vintage.

Can I ask where the bbq and gabion came from....
I’d been toying with a similar idea for my back garden.
As a note, the 1st time I ever saw gabions was in 94, in Bosnia, they were wrapped round iso containers to protect us when the Serbs were shelling the Muslims but every now and then “ had a drop short” on our camp.....
