its like anything its down to your own personal taste. i have tried a malt that cost 1000 quid a bottle and i was not that impressed! i like Glenmorangie, its a bit different from most of the others. Maccallan wins all the awards and the older ones (older than 18 years) are certainly fine. west coast malts are very peaty like Laphroig, where the Speyside malts are more "traditional" flavours like Glenlivet, Maccallan etc. you need to find a bar with a good selection and try a few back to back and see what a wide variety of flavours there are, its a good game!

There seems to be many different editions of Jura these days.

Generally, the higher the price point the better the scotch. Like everything else, however having bought and tasted a Balvenie 12 YO Doublewood for 31 quid, its lovely and need to buy a case.

That was a good price

Aye I love my Balvenie, not tasted a bad one yet. My Bro called me early this morning to say he seen a Balvenie 30 YO in duty free for 350 quid, of course I give him the go ahead. Whisky exchange are retailing for 650+ GBP.

haha, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Balvenie released 1401 few years back for 150 quid a bottle, now worth 1,250+
Only if you don't drink it. Where's the point in that? It's like buying a Maserati and not driving it!

I am glad that some here can relate to ripples I like too!
Laphroig is my festive buddy. Although, bunnahabhain is a smoother version and less smoky and is very comforting as an after dinner dram.
Being Indian, everyday water companion is Johnny Walker black and when I can get it, Double black.
Apart from these, I do try a bottle of something different every other month and Dalwhinnie went down very well last month:)

I get a slightly upset stomach from drinking blends, but could be that I've acquired a better palate for single malts.
