Where do I sign?

Take. My. Money! ;)

C
I'm organising it. I'll pm my account details for you to send me the money so I can then taste test quite a few so I can decide which distilleries we'll visit. :p

Glenmorangie is often quite run of the mill, but only because of their supermarket plonk. As soon as you hit their special bottlings, they get rather scrummy.

If ever anyone is around Oxford and fancies a dram, I have around 20 malts available at the moment...

Mark, it has the magic words 'Single Malt' and whilst this does not automatically elevate it to exclusivity it takes it above the average 'blend'...

I'd actually not agree. There's some better blends out there. (IMHO / YMMV etc etc etc)

I'd agree with that C. I wouldn't normally give house room to a blended, but one of the nicest in my modest collection was a bottle of Ballantines Limited. I only finished it a week or two back, so the search is on for another. Not too hopeful though, as it was discontinued a good few years ago.

Lagavulin for me. I also went and had a look around the St Georges" distillery in Norfolk a couple of weekends ago. Tiny compared to what I have seen in Scotland

I'm much more of a single malt man. I prefer Talisker, Balvenie and Dalmore but starting to bid on rarer vintage whisky. I love drinking but the collection is growing so if anyone is looking rid of a few bottles, let me know.

Mark is asking as a novice to whiskey (not to drinking obviously) and I carefully chose to give only the perceived wisdom. I didn't and wouldn't dismiss all blends and neither would I claim all single malts as superior. There are indeed many whiskies out there I personally would brand as little more than fire water, thankfully however there are far more I have found to my taste, the best feeling like an adventure from the aroma, the warming sip and savour, developing for a considerable time an after-taste that leaves a smile on the face and a warmth in the belly :)

Ballantines can be good. Chivas brothers blend is pretty OK as well.

One of my Scottish friends was impressed when he came for dinner for the first time and he was offered a Whisky Menu to choose from.

Macallan is certainly one of my favourites but I do like Knockandoo & Singleton as everyday tipples all from Speyside.

Just bought a bottle of Balvenie 12 YO Single Barrel First Fill #150 of 300. Great reviews and collectable at price point.

My old boss was a bit of a connoisseur. He must have had over 100 malts, and a bar built into an outbuilding where the malts were arranged on shelves by distillery location!

Do NOT allow me to aspire to that... It's such a good idea!

I'm off whisky for a bit, I bought myself a 12 year old malt at Christmas

Stayed up a bit too late and drank a lot too much of it , I started about 9pm , by midnight I went from not drunk to very drunk in about 15 minutes , it was the can't walk, can't talk type of drunk, I spent most of the next day in bed and felt awful for 2 days

When I got up Lynne showed me the thimble full that was left in the bottle
