Sounds good Wattie!

2020 has been such a **** year, and I’m going to be super happy it’s over, so I’ve gone fairly big...

We have got some:

Don Perignon (courtesy of credit card reward points)
Puligny-Montrachet
a nice zesty Chablis Grand Cru
and the bit I’m most excited by - a 2016 Alion Ribera del Douro

I was gifted a bottle of (slightly older) Alion for my 40th, and it’s in my top 5 reds of all time, so I’m hoping this lives up to my expectations!
Bloody h3ll.
i’m gutted I went first as having read yours will now have to significantly increase my “Aldi like” budget!
Very nice indeed JW.

Cheers rossyl.
Yes I made them myself. They are made from oak veneered sheets of 18 mm plywood. I used oak edge strips that you iron on and then lacquered everything. I basically measured up the room, then ordered the racking to size allowing enough space above for the shelving to carry large formats (imperials, jeroboams and double-magnums)
The room is constructed from PIR insulated panels and is run by a condenser outside my house keeping a constant 12.5 C.
Firstly I cladded the entire room with oak veneered 10 mm MDF.

Once the racking was in position I built the plywood shelves and screwed them onto the racking.
The shelfs will also carry standard 75 cl bottles which can be seen on one of the photos below.

Thanks Bebs. Most impressed you did this yourself!!

Sorry, I may not be as logically minded as you! How did you go about screwing the shelves on top of the rack?

Mine would probably lay fairly flat.

No worries rossyl. Just pre-drill small pilot holes from above, down into the wooden slats of the racking. Then gently screw the shelf on. Screw one in first so that the shelf is fixed in place. Then fit as many as you feel is needed depending on size of course.
