Hmm.... looks F-type at the lights, California around the front grill... and well the rest took like the old GT with new rear cluster and bumper.

Evolution or has the money run out?

Will wait to see if it looks better when it's out of the wrapping paper.

100% agree with this

I really hope they drop the Jag rear end but it has been there throughout.

Seems like an Audi level rehash of the old model

Doesn’t instantly fill me with joy however as has been said need to see it out of it’s wrapping and the absolute final version.

I think the trouble with the original GT, and I don’t say this as a dreamy eyed owner, is that it was that bloody good. Not a bad line on it and truly a beautiful car.

I like it hat they did with the MC20 so the optimist in me says if it’s all / some of the same design team then it’ll all be ok, I hope.

Looks good to me. I agree with @midlifecrisis, that bonnet does suggest front-opening, maybe a clamshell.

The roofline looks higher than current, or is that just part of the disguise?

Can't imagine a bit redesign without breaking the bank. So it probably will be in line with what it was. Redesigned front and rear, maybe shave a few inches of here and there for weight and dimension reasons.

I thought that the new car would use the Giorgio platform from Alfa, as per the Grecale. Lots of good reasons for this, lightweight, fantastic handling etc. If so I can’t imagine why they would then faithfully evolve/copy the old body design. Look at the Grecale - it looks like a Stelio.

It won’t be that as the Giorgio is being sunset and the Giulia won’t be using it either so I would imagine a new platform with electrification capabilities and the GT/TONALE will be the first to utilise it.

That’s what I have read too, replaced with STLA Large Vehicle Platform / Giorgio Evo.

I think this is great. The design is timeless and with a new platform I think the combo is perfect and shows technological advancement whilst firmly considering restraining from a total aesthetic redesign.

so I go away for a few weeks and they launch a new GT? I had no idea, is there another thread or is this the first here?
PS: looks nice, as always

Looks the same as before with different bumpers at a quick glance.Shame they don't make a AWD version
I don’t think this is a bad thing, Porsche have been getting away with it for decades.

AWD for me would remove the ‘oh shite’ when the rear end flicks and reminds you, you are dealing with a live beast.

Sorry, I think you are wrong. The Tonale is on a Jeep platform. I don't think they'll miss the chance to make a GT on a Giorgio platform.

The Grecale is all Stelvio - https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1133656_2023-maserati-grecale-teased-ahead-of-mar-22-debut

No bad thing if the GT is on the Giorgio platform. Go and test a Roma or even an F8 Tributo back to back with a Gulia QV - I did through my wife's connections and work with Ferrari. So similar - the Ferrari drivers that look at the events all drive Guilia.

I hope I'm correct, as I think we could all be looking at a GT that is as good as a Roma - for much less and a subtle badge.

GT as good as a Roma….I really hope so and actually it the MC20 is anything to go by I see now reason why it couldn’t be.

Exactly! It's at least as much about the fun and the giggles as the grippy speed stuff.

…and showing crazy French ambiance drivers how to do a SM bi-passing manoeuvre
I've never seen an ambulance driver hog-tied and spit-roasted like that before. You'd not have fitted a f@g paper between MLC's rear wing and that ambulance. It was a sight to see.

Its a safe design in my view. Looks like a GT which is good, but may not really look different enough to push current GT owners to consider a change. It will be interesting to see if people will be willing to make the shift to the V6 T for the benefit of 0.5 sec or so. Be interesting to see how it sounds and whether the engineers can cook up a soundtrack that makes it worth stumping up that extra cash vs something more mainstream like an F type or Giulia Quad that would be just as quick if not more so.. GT drivers compromise lots of things for that soundtrack and look...
