I'm thinking of booking the car in with Sunnyside who Catman often used. I'm will check what their hourly rate is.

Any ideas on MCGraths and/or Grimaldi 's hourly rate and anyone else nearby?

Thanks

Sounds like you might need a windscreen reseal..?? You could try Autoglass, they come out to you, but get a price first, or get it done on your insurance..!!

I think I should first chat to a few indies in the new year. Apparently it can be difficult to remove bonded windscreens... but I'm sure I've seen Ed China do it!!

Also, I'm not 100% it is the windscreen and would need to be sure before going down that route.

Fingers crossed.

You could always get a hosepipe on her and get inside to see if you can see where the drips are coming from..??

I've tried. It definitely leaks, but don't know if that is a leak on the windshield, or, after water has run off the windshield it somehow finds another route in.

I can see drips, but have noted wet sound deadening behind the accelerator pedal.

Not sure what else I can do.

If you've got the carpet up Ross you might want to try this.

Get the sound deadening out.
Replace with *dry* newspaper.
Repeat test. This has the benefit of showing exactly where the water is getting to the foot well which may, or may no, help pinpoint the leak. If not, then it's gonna have to be a dash out job, I suspect although does anyone know if removal of the dash top panel exposes the bottom edge of the screen from the inside?
That's a simple removal and could confirm / deny the screen sealing issue.

Thanks Chris

I have done that Chris and I can't pin point the leak.

Taking the top of the dash off seems a tad scary, but happy to be told otherwise and give it a go.

Try putting thr fans on full and amear a little fairy liquid around the bottom of the screen...the air pressure may force out a bit of air through the leak area rather like how you find a leaking pipe joint or punctured tyre.

Interesting idea, Pete. Could well be worth a try.

Ross, the dash top is quite easy (or at least looks it from the how to) You need to take the curtain trim off above the doors, for which trim removal tools are a plus. Then you get the A-pillar trim off, which is also dead easy, and then you have the screws for the dash top. There is a plug under there as well, so you don't want to just yank it but....

Are you up this way over the festive season. Sure we could have a look if you wanted. I'd rather be sure that the bottom of the screen will be exposed though....

I'm pretty sure once the dash top is off you can see the bottom rubber of the screen..!! Do the drips give any indication at all where the source is, are the drips dropping on to the back of the accelerator pedal area, or do you think that is getting wet by water coming in through an aperture..?? It could all be run down from the top near the screen..!!

Hi Chris and Robert

The sound deadening behind the accelerator pedal is wet. The water then trickles down to the floor pan, getting that sound deadening wet.

When running a hose on the windshield the floor pan got wet. But, this could be caused by a windshield leak, or somewhere else around there, as the water obviously runs off the windshield towards the bonnet area.

Chris - That's a very kind offer. I'm pretty busy up till 2nd January. But the Sunday first Sunday in 2014 would be good. If you don't mind lending me a hand.

Thanks

I would plump for water running down from somewhere, head under dash, very good lamp and some kind soul with a hose to assist.

Might couple that idea with Pete's. The trouble is without the dash top out, if the leak originates somewhere hidden having a torch won't be of help.

With this weather and my main objective currently being to eat and drink as much as possible, along with family commitments, I won't look at this till the new year.

Hopefully I'll have a game plan before.

Rossyl,

It may help to build the air pressure if you can find the exit vents and block them...normally at the rear of the car.
