I think i am ageing before my time, a guy at Tae Kwon Do turned up to training last night in a V70 R, i made a joke saying "are you coming to training or are you moving house" (it is the size of a small bungalow) he said "yeah yeah very funny i will take you for a spin later" i said "ok then". Here is a pic of the car in question.

Little did i know it was tuned slightly to 300 bhp (250 when standard) and it went like sh!t off a shovel, a real sleeper, bearing in mind he is 19 and it is his daily drive i was surprised he bought it. It got me thinking, for 3.5k it is a heck of a lot of car for the money, great build quality, very comfy inside and with a boot that size, you can do anything and i mean anything in that boot :D

So it got me thinking, we all laugh at Volvo's saying they are all old codgers cars etc..... but to be honest, this car is probably better than the equivalent BMW 5 series for the same price bracket. I have certainly changed my mind about Volvo's. In fact, i even looked at V70 R's in the classifieds earlier, now where is my pipe and slippers :D:D:D

Yes the BMW would probably out handle it but i could not believe how much power it had, even in standard form it will hit 60 in 7 seconds, no slouch considering the weight of the thing.

And you can carry all you mates as well...and have intimacy with you MILFS in the boot, back and front..

Yeah i thought of that, i dont know what my mates would say if i bought a Gold Volvo estate, regardless of how fast it is, they would not stop laughing for months. Still fancy a barge one day, so maybe a V70 R will do the job.

Adam,

Insurance on them for young drivers is about as good as it gets, especially given the big engines and supprising performance... typically Sweedish in that there is great mid-range punch for overtaking that other cars for youngsters could only dream of...

Nothing to be ashamed of driving one of these, any other Volvo is just a faster old mans car

I was looking at a Saxo but to be honest i think there are better cars out there, Polo, Yaris.

Quite like this, good reliable, well built car and good fuel economy.

adding your parents as named drivers (providing they have a clean license) brings the quote down massively.

Playing it safe with the Yaris Adam.... I have to say we have had two Aygo's now and they have been great fun and group 1 insurance to boot!

Also adding your girlfriend helps as it shows you're in a steady relationship - mind with you it's probably cos she's 32 and a mothier of two (MILF)!!!!

The Toyota should be really reliable Adam..So if you can not get a Fiat then it could be a good buy for you...

Yaris is better value than Aygo in terms of price. Also i can modify a Yaris and it will only cost an extra £200 to insure so i will add some nice Japanese spec 6 spoke wheels, lower -40mm springs, thicker rear anti roll bar, blitz exhaust and induction kit. Will sound like a tin can but hey ho.
