Interesting - I've also noticed the noise, especially on certain road surfaces. Having said that, the car was originally shod with Pirelli P-Zero Rossos which I also found noisy. What size are your tyres? Mine are 225/40/18; I was wondering if the larger rolling radius and low profile was the reason.

They don't half grip though! I can fling mine anywhere and it just doesn't want to come unstuck - big fun factor!

It was you MAF that brought it to my attention, the noise that is, not noticed it till you pointed it out. Mine are 215/45/17's.

Hows your GT going, mines been fab, munches the miles up. Its going on the track next month, up with the Masers.

Love mine to bits. A few bits to criticise (paint is **** on these cars, whole front bumper is chipped to buggery), but it's my daily hack. Eats the miles, goes like stink, extremely comfortable, dare I say practical, ridiculously economical, handles brilliantly and very pretty to look at. Genuinely cannot think of what I'd replace it with!

It would be interesting to see how you get on at a track with the diesel engine. It will handle superbly I'm sure.

I had mine repainted completely as you know it was a Cat C. Paint is OK but does chip easy, Alfa paint aint the best, but the 156's was, it was much much better, think it was made in a different factory.

The track, yes. If it rains I will have alot of the masers, but I am going to get blown away on the straights. Mine is stock, what BHP are you running MAF, is it easy to get done?

Mine's back to standard for the time being. I was running a Steinbauer P-Box which was really good - loads more power & torque, but it threw up a load of error messages suddenly after a few months which I couldn't trace. As soon as I removed the box everything went back to normal. Needless to say the box hasn't been replaced! I'm looking into remaps currently and close to a decision - will let you know when I've had it done. The Q2 will have to come quickly afterwards though as that level of torque could easily wreck the standard diff & gearbox.

BHP will likely be somewhere between 190 & 200, but it's the torque that's interesting. Somewhere not too far off a GS and much lower down the rev range!

My tyre man has got in on a large order of winter tyres. I'm going to go for a set as I should have done last year. Idon't have full details yet but if anyone wants to get in on these let me know and I'll get prices sorted for a group buy...

These are or tend to be limited to a short run for the UK as demand is so small so don't miss out if you are considering them.

Might be interested Newton , really all down to price , if there similar to Vreds then i'd rather stay with them , for me they are a known quantity for my style of driving, great dry grip , excellent wet confident grip and not to bad in the snow , so as an all round tyre they score really high in my book , Falkens have a very good rep on here , if a tad more road noise , i could live with that for a decent saving

Loz, as it stands I don't know what make or makes are in the shipment but the wholesale order is in the region of £50k so I'm guessing it will be a mix. I'll be speaking to him this week and I'll report back.

Afternoon all

Its been a while since Ive been on here - work and all that!

I'm joining this thread as Ive had the 4200 in for a 4 wheel alignment as the front tyres were scuffing on the outside. The guy highlighted my rears were on the marker - nearly illegal - oops!

I have Dunlop Sports all round.

Reading all 8 pages here - it seems there are 2 favourites: 452s and F1's.

Concerned about the 452 road noise but like the sound of the grip.

I will therefore have Dunlop Sports on the front (they have another 4-5,000 miles left) and one of the 2 above.

Any thoughts please gents?

Cheers

M

Ps - I will post on the brakes as you may recal I had 550 discs fitted a few months back....

The 452's are available on Blackcircle.com for £315.20 (fully fitted). Seems a great price - I was being quoted for Michelin Sport PS3's £547! (that was before I read this site to understand what the REAL experts were saying!!)

You'll probably find that the rear f452 are not in stock in the UK with no guarantee of when they will be available. Hopefully I'm wrong but that was the situation I found last week.

I've had front and rear F1s in the recent past and they are excellent. Thoroughly recommend.

Thanks for the replies gents - Ive gone ahead and ordered the Falken tyres - all the reports on here and elsewhere were very good. Price is great as working out at £290 for them delivered and £10 per wheel for fitting. (ordered via Blackcircle as used them beofre and seem to be good).

Ive also booked it to have the alignment carried out on a Hunter machine. The front wheels were done last week but the rears had to wait due to the toe bar being seized. They will sort that out (fitting at a place in Newcastle http://www.revolution247.com/4-wheel-alignment-67441-0.html - looks very good and the customer service so far has been superb).

I'll obviously let you know how they wear and what difference they make! Seeing as I'm down to 1.6 tread I'm sure they will make a lot of difference!

Good to hear, you wont be disappointed. Mine wore on the inside edges, and my local tyre shop said the tracking was out, £15 and it never came back, so worth getting it checked and saving you the money on the Hunter, they wont be able to adjust anything anyway as you need shims to set it up. If you get it done at an Indie or Dealer they will be able to set it up. Get them to set it up in GS spec too, or them might even have some customs settings of their own.
