I need to replace all 4 tyres on my 4200 (recent purchase), and would welcome any recommendations. I run pirellli nero zero's on my Abarth (factory fitted) and really rate them , but this is a different animal !! Any ideas ?

Chris, a subject much discussed. Pirelli or Michelin OE are Ok but expensive. Some others, including me, have fitted Falken FK 452s and so far they have been very good. I think I paid about £700 a set. Others may have more set ideas but you pay your money and make your choice.

Falkens seem to be the forums fav at the moment though.........Vredesteins if you studiously avoid all potholes.....:)

Seriously, for 3 reasons:
1. Grip - brilliant, better than the OEM in my opinion
2. Price - they can be had for £125 per corner if you do your homework fitted
3. No reinforced sidewall - This is a real problem with the GS, its has massive alloys and ultra low profile. The OEM tyres have a reinforced sidewall. This makes the ride terrible and if you hit a pot hole, it shoots the sidewall through the top of the tyre then if you dont spot it, your tyre will blow out. The Falkens have no reinforcement, so the ride in everyday application is so, so much better.

Check the sizes, I dont have my car so I think these are the front:
http://www.camskill.co.uk/m55b0s468...EN_FK452_FALKEN_FK_452_-_225_35R19_88Y_XL_TL_

And the rears???:
http://www.camskill.co.uk/m55b0s336...EN_FK452_FALKEN_FK_452_-_245_35R19_93Y_XL_TL_

The only issue I have had is the they seem a bit tight on the rim and the anti curb does not sit where it should. This is not so bad on the fronts but on the rears it does not look right. If I were you I would go up a width on the rears. Get the fitter to order both and see how they look. I think SimonM did this so might be worth PM'ing him.

255/30 is the minimum I would put on a 9 1/2" rear. 225/35 are correct at the front for an 8" wheel.

INteresting site. I'm contemplating Conti's on the front .....but looking at that site, Michelin Pilot Super Sport look well regarded.

Hi Woody

The Pirelli review is taliking about P zeros, there is also a P Zero Corsa variant (which I run on my car) I would say the review for these is pretty accurate - good dry grip, noisy, not the best in the wet and wear factor high- more of a semi track tyre IMO
Will consider alternatives when the time comes

Which Zeros r on yr car?

I have what I think are factory fit P-Zero Rosso's on mine. They've been OK, I've known nothing different, what I was looking to move away from was the hard side walls. New Rosso's are actaully cheaper than Conti's.

I would be interested in any ones opinion on a few tyre related questions. A) any one had problem with flat spots on the tyres after the car has been sitting for a while? are some tyres worse for this than others? B) are any of these high performance tyres fitted with a decent bump protection to try and protect the rims from kerbs at all, I have clipped mine twice in the last 2 years and the local powder coating shop know me by name! C) and lastly a random thought, i fitted good year ultragrip snow tyres to my citroen last winter and i noticed when I changed them over when the weather warmed up the difference is huge, the snow tyres at normal temperatures are seriously sticky almost like slicks. Would a full set of snow tyres in the summer give amazing grip (albeit with very short lifespan?) any one tried it?

Davy....re the last query....am sure your insurance company would have an opinion on using winter tyres on a high speed supercar during summer periods.......

Davy, I would be very wary using winter tyres in summer (I have a full set of Vredsteins for the 3200 just for winter) as the higher silica content makes them more flexible which is fine for winter temp but summer temps may mean you have a problem with the sidewall flexing too much which could potentialy ruin your tyre let alone your day!!!
Just my opinion for what its worth

Hey Chippiepilot i am impressed this presumably means you take the 3200 out in the snow regularly? i have only done it a couple of times and it was not very entertaining!
and yes i would agree the tyre would most likely not be speed rated and be generally too soft, just thinking out loud really!.

I run her all the way through winter, as soon as the temp goes below (and regularly stays below) 7 degrees I swap onto the winters - I dont seem to have any trouble in/with the snow - I also have a set of pewag snow chains to add to the winter kit.The main reason really is that I tend to go to the alps in winter and this setup will suffice/exceed any regulations whilst also providing and extra element of safety when driving in these conditions

I have P zero nero on the front - seem just fine to me, soft and good grip, not sure how long they last. For sure fewer miles than the rears.

Got something like Falkens on the back, do just fine for me. Might try P zero next time, as rears last ages maybe 16k mile or more!

P Zeros on mine and since Maserati say they attribute so much of the Gransport's handling to these tyres I think I will stick with them. I know many of you dont agree with that
