I have P zero nero on the front - seem just fine to me, soft and good grip, not sure how long they last. For sure fewer miles than the rears.

Got something like Falkens on the back, do just fine for me. Might try P zero next time, as rears last ages maybe 16k mile or more!

Same setu-up as me at present. Funny that the fronts wear quicker than the rears....

And in roundabout city as well! You're obviously on the power out the back side of the roundabout, but Loz, you've got AP brakes for goodness sake! Stop braking so early on the way in! Get that front end squirming! :D

I can honestly say Miles , so far there isnt a roundabout in MK ( other than Mini roundabouts) that i cant take atleast 60mph when doing a 180 , and atleast 45mph when doing a 270 turn , i tend to lose the rear end at that speed when doing a 360 , and all on Vredsteins ultrac sessanta's

Hooligan! :D

Can't believe you're not scrubbing your fronts ahead of the rears, as that's a lot of steering forces going through the front contact patches?

Hooligan.....cheek , i like to think of myself as a mobile scientist, testing out the forces of inertia versus friction officer , my thesis is very nearly complete your honour

Haha, Officer in response.... "Well Sir that's all very interesting, but you're still nicked!"

Oh and wait until Benny goes to work on... "testing the forces of interia versus friction"! I expect a very different take on that one!

Nah, power on oversteer takes the stress off the fronts!

Haha, Hmm, but the car is set up stock for understeer unless you change the geo' and the usual result of power on oversteer is a loss of bottle, a tank-slapper and a tree.

Hi all, my first post for absolutely ages. Anyway I had a pair of Goodyear F1s on the rear after the Michelin Contact Sports wore out after 12-13k miles. After bedding in (200 miles or so), the tyres are providing much better grip than the Michelins ever did, and I am hoping the wear will be slightly better (although 13k isn't too bad I guess). Used to be able to spin up the rears (in sport mode) unintentionally all the time, but the F1s are providing much more grip so haven't managed it once yet. However during the bedding in period I thought I had made a bad mistake as they seemed very slippy. Also, my car (4200CC) had a new set of Michelins all round 13k miles ago and the rears wore *much* quicker than the fronts (still have 4-5mm all round on the fronts).

Lol no I'll try not to be.

Just as a background, I had an 02 4200CC and then got rid of it for something sensible. Found the sensible car way too boring, so had to get another and ended up with an 04 4200CC back in November - new clutch and new tyres all round. The clutch at the 12k service was 25% worn (not bad) but the rear tyres were down to legal limit hence the new F1s on the back. Still loving the F1s, best tyre I've personally experienced on the Maser (had Vreds and Michelins in the past). I always went for F1s on previous cars (Jaguar XJ, BMW 5 series) and they are excellent without being ridiculously priced.

Hi gents (and ladies?)

Would you believe it, having said that my fronts were wearing much better than the rears, I had a shocker. As I was getting in to the car last night I noticed that the driver side front had worn on the outer edge down to the fabric. Scary, I hadn't noticed it at all until it got that far and I drive up and down the motorway at motorway speeds (ahem) almost every day.

Had to take it to KwikFit (the cheapest in the locality, my office is in Chesterfield at the moment by a margin) - £328 for a pair of Goodyear F1 Asymmetric, so now I have the same all round. When the Michelins were taken off I checked them and on both the outer edge was very worn, with progressively less wear going in. The middle of the tyres had around 4mm still on them so a bit annoyed to change them when so much of the tyre is good.

Some views on tyre pressures - I had them under 2bar for ride comfort but got KwikFit to put all four up to 2.1bar (around 32psi). The rears were down at 26psi, way too low (my fault, I wanted a softer ride). Anyway a fairly expensive lesson learned in terms of tyre pressures. Ho hum.

I think it is a common trait that one edge wears much quicker than the other due to the geometry of these cars? Although I seem to recall that people have also had inside wear which is very difficult to spot of course...

Normal geo set up on these cars tends to wear the inner edges first , might be worth having your geo checked , be a bit of a bugger with new tyres on to find that its starting to wear at the same rate,

I've just ordered a set of 452s and I'm having them fitted on Monday. Thanks for the posts on this and other related tyre threads. You made my choice a very straightforward one.

:)
