Top Gear!

So what is everybody watching these days?

I've stopped watching TG, and find myself mainly following a number of YouTube channels such as Harry Metcalfe's Harry's Garage, M539 (a - I think - Serbian guy running a garage somewhere in Germany, fixing BMW M and Alpina cars and sharing that in very deep detail), Davide Cironi's channel, Carfection, Tyrrell's Classic Workshop, and sometimes some of the content of JayEmm and Number27.

Thinking back at the 'good old' Top Gear days yesterday made me feel old

I thoroughly enjoyed it! Memories of holidays in Miami, Naples, Sanibel and an airboat trip in the Everglades with lunch at a diner in Everglades City that made Bates Motel look inviting

As others have said, serious motoring journalists are now found on YouTube, and this is just mainstream entertainment with a mild motoring theme. As entertainment, it did what it says on the tin for me. This is the TV equivalent of Carfest, not Goodwood Revival.

My Vanquish prototype on JayEmm. In my strive for originality, I put my perfect concours wheels with the 14 year old OE spec Yokos on the wrong way round vs my usual wheels with newish Michelin PS4’s so the handling comments were fair enough.

It’s a heavy GT anyway and what makes it special for me is the look, sound and that it’s totally unique with loads of Newport Pagnell history.

I didn’t watch it, some of the guys from the VSCC said they’d been to one of their trials, did they turn it into comedy entertainment?

I have given up on it as well this series. Just watched Chris reviews…MC20/Emira…Also I did like the 50 years of M cars last night and the fuel piece I also found interesting. They jaunts and challenges are just boring and Paddy has got more enjoying with every episode.

Didn't even bother last night, apart from CH solo car reviews the rest is utter dross.

I thought the BMW bit would be interesting.

All it turned into was a piece on Paddy hooning around in an M1 Coupe. They could have done so much more with the iconic M cars, but went to the very tired formula of tyre smoke.

Yes, you have a point…Ignoring Paddy for a while I just liked the cars. I would have put the E46 M3 CSL (may be bias though) ahead of the 1M Coupe but I suppose that car is closer is size to the original and manual. Surely an E39 M5 is more iconic than the 1M.

Did I see that it started again last night? Was watching the F1 which I assume was as equally as dull as TG?

There appeared to be something that looked like Chris Harris in a car as I scrolled past the channels in the hotel.

There was an awesome electric car from ?Croatia (first time the country has built a car - but it has a £2m price tag) - towards the end if you want to check it out. And next week they are testing some fast cars in Germany - could be worth a moment or two.

A very subdued episode with just the RIMAC (Interesting but looked rather hashed together for a £2m car) and the usual trip in 3 cars around a foreign country which has to be their dullest feature yet.

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than suffer that excruciating loudmouth Paddy Mcguinness who always acts like a 5 year old let out to play after being locked in a cupboard for a week.
Flintoff just comes across as being socially and academically totally out of his depth.
Harris on the other hand is fun to watch, his enthusiasm is infectious but he should have his own show with Jason Plato and Elvis from Wheeler Dealers.
That would be a dream team. Proper competition with technical know how.
